Salami!

Post by musicturtle »

So I know you all are dying to hear another kid's song from me! :lollers:

Just a little fun song to help with singing on pitch using solfege.

If you listen and you have any nits please let me know.

Thanks

I'd never actually encountered solfege in the wild. I thought it was just an anachronism from The Sound of Music!

Song seems fine. Is falsetto and hitting pitches that your tiny, prepubescent students are comfortable with a challenge for you at all?

You bastard musicturtle !!! I'll be signing this all weekend i just know it.

Song seems fine to me for it's intended purpose. But if i were to bother going back to do anything i'd sparkle up the guitar and bring it a little wee bit more forward. Or maybe dial back the tamborine just a hair.

But really, it's fine as is for where it is going.

The world needs an alternative to Doe a Deer..
Well done Tony.
It works and the percussion, being 1st thing in a kids head, is at a good level.
Cheers

vomitHatSteve yeah there is a pedagogy based mainly off of solfege. Sometimes the falsetto comes and goes, but really after teaching this age group for going on 20 years I have really developed that part of my voice. I always had a pretty high range but I really learned to mix the falsetto in to reach those higher pitches. I do not sing them with tremendous power, but that is okay because I really try to keep the kids from belting.

WhiskeyJack sorry man, guilty as charged on the catchiness haha. Those changes would help some, I just finished and posted the video, like you, I thought it was good enough for the audience.

At first I was like wtf is this? I had to Google "solfege" then I got it. Pretty good. I should be one of your students.

Here's a short play-by-play of my listening experience:
---
0:00-0:07 - SweetDan is grooving along, listening to the catchy bongos and guitar
0:08-0:09 - SweetDan laughs hard and spits out his drink

That's great!
awesome youtube comment of the day
Bill and Ted time traveled and brought a bass player from 1973, a drummer from 1984 and a guitar player from 1995. Now they're spreading peace all over the world 🌎

LOL - if I'd had you as music teacher I might be doing better now.
That's all fucking high pitched! I just tried signing along with it So-La-Mi and all I did with inaudibly breathe out.

Haha, thanks man.

Yeah the pitches are pretty high, but basically mid-range for 5-10 year olds. I am just lucky have the falsetto and I practice with them every day.
