This is good. If it's podcast music, I could see just leaving out the lyrics entirely. (Heck, they'll probably edit it to 5 seconds or turn it down and talk over it. Let's be honest: no matter how good it is, your music isn't the star of the show)

Ok, this mix sounds pretty good man. Guitars sounded great. Bass was pretty prominent through my studio phones, but not muddy or anything, and the playing was pretty tight, so it's probably ok where it's at.

Cheers,

REgarding it being Podcast music - yeah, there's not going to be a vocal on this.
The bass intro is just for "Welcome to the Crest podcast with Tom and Rob" followed by 20s of music. Then when it goes to muted powerchords I'm dipping the whole thing by 5db for "In this months show etc."

OK, so by listener demand, we're gonna release the podcast theme as a single! (just on Spotify)
I've extended the arrangement to include the counter melody section and the key change - lots of harmony guitars 'cos this was originally arrange for a male voice choir.

Any mix tips would be great

And here's the original for reference:

Sounds pretty damned good @JD01 to me.

The only thing that sticks out a bit to me is when the rhythm guitar is ringing out like between :45-:50, it covers up most everything else.

But as always, your performance and guitar sounds are stellar.

Cheers Tony, I know the bit you mean. I down to one lead there so it thins right out. I think I'll have to live with that one.

Not sure how the eff I missed this.

I don't really have much other than i don't think i love how dry and separated the toms feel at that 0:43 mark. It's not bad, it just felt weird to me for some reason. Other than that this is really well done. Guitars sound really really good.

You probably missed it cos I've recycled it a few times just as the podcast theme. This time I decided to record a full mix of the whole piece... at about twice the speed of the usual version.

I think the bit you're talking about is a load of Tom flams. I like them!
