Speaking of well made, that's made in Japan, and its pretty amazing really.
I grew up on well made Japanese guitars. None of us could afford the real thing. Thats partly what got me into making guitars as a teenager. I was apprenticing as a high end cabinet maker and the challenge was too much to resist. No YouTube in those days and very few books. It was slow learning curve but infinitely better than the quick easy access streams about today. We had to really seek out and question stuff back then. Mistakes were costly in time and money.

LOL! I regularly play for more than 2 hours in a sitting and I've never done this.
Fuck, my Ibanez hasn't had a cleaning like this since I got it in 1997! Actually, I think, I'll slow it some love too when my cleaning stuff arrives.

I clean down most times but that is habit as much as need. I am a pretty sweaty player though. I can rust up a set of strings in a week...

Argh, I still regret letting go of my 70s MIJ Washburn. If I'd stuck a P90 in that instead of selling it for 300 quid I'd be just about sorted.

You can still find some decent Japanese guitars on Ebay. If you find one you like, ship it to me and I will set it up for you and stick some decent pickups in there for you. That may keep you going until you have funds for the next build.

Aside from the uncertainty lockdown has been fairly kind financially. I've not had anything to spend money on so despite the pay cut I've managed to squirrel away a few quid. We're actually recruiting at the moment so work seems to be OK.

Lol I'm thankfully just the opposite. My sweat is pretty mild, and I don't sweat a lot when playing. My head and body will sweat on a hot stage, but it never drips all over my guitar. I've never rusted through anything on a guitar. I hope things stay that way.

I dont know why but I'm the other way. On stage under lights at the front singing and playing all night and I sweat very little but through my hands. Weird. Most of the bridges on my electrics are pitted from it because I rest my hand there all the time for muting chords and shit like that. I guess we are all different but the same.

Thats good to hear mate, I will send over some thoughts and prospective costs and we can go from there. We can start a thread on the details and build if and when we get there.

Cheers, I can start looking at working out my budget going forwards then. I also need a new driveway at the moment, but I should be able to do both if we can sort out the right price and payment milestones.

I love the feel of a freshly oiled and restrung guitar. I feel fast, even though I'm not :)

So what kind of oil did you end up using on your environmentally irresponsible ebony fretboard as the forests wept?

My hands don't sweat very much fortunately since I rarely wipe my guitars down.
May clean a guitar every few years ....... emphasis on 'may'.

I like it. It looks worn in.

I'm personally fine with any fretboard wood that isn't plain maple. As long as it's brown I'm good. It all feels the same to me. I'm not digging my fingers into the fretboard anyway.
