Real drummer question
Re: Real drummer question
This is where parididles and ridiments become handy. I’m pretty much always am lightly accenting the snare but not much with technicality at all lol. I can’t really tell just by listening back but it sounds like this could be a LRLR deal or a rlrrlrll with some single strokes mixed in. Is there a video of this anywhere?
Re: Real drummer question
Yeah that's just light left-hand accents between hard hits. The tom parts are probably a mix of L and R hand because the accent rustle stops a bit between the tom notes. The snare hits are probably a mix of L and R too. It's not anything a good drummer doesn't often do. I mean, I don't do any shit like that, but I can hear that it's not impossible. There's nothing in that drum pattern that screams fake unrealistic programming to me.
If that's real and not enhanced in some way, then that's some damn fine dynamic control from that drummer.

I can't even begin to relate to any of that. I don't practice at all, ever, so I can't imagine the amount of practice and study that it would take to play that way.Armistice wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:54 pm Thanks guys. Useful to know.
Coudn't find that particular track but found another one where he's the focus - seems like the studio track sans the drums and he's pounding along and being filmed. Name is Gavin Harrison and I believe he's very highly regarded - not that I keep tabs on drummers. The track is no doubt not to your taste, being proggy, but he seems to know his stuff pretty well.

That guy is way better than me but just seems ok compared to everyone else. If you want to see some cool proggy drummers go check out my "Great Modern Drummers" thread.
