Cool miner! That blade ripper looks pretty sick.
You can ground the pickups anywhere. The pot case is usually easiest. On a push/pull you can ground the pickups at the switch and then run a small jumper to the case if necessary. What you want to avoid though is a ground loop. You want your various grounds to all "funnel" to the same place - the output jack. You don't want grounding to have several paths to the same place. Make them all flow into one river.

Thanks guys, I'm impressed with Mutt's work & I haven't even heard these yet...
Sorry to be so dense man
, I've swapped p'ups, but this is totally different for me...
Having one ground path makes sense, but do you have a "color-by-numbers for a 4 year old" pic I can use as a reference???Greg_L wrote: ↑Mon Apr 16, 2018 2:33 pm On a push/pull you can ground the pickups at the switch and then run a small jumper to the case if necessary. You'd need to know what colors Mutt used for which wires.

He sent me a pic, he uses Gibson wiring:
I'm working on a diagram, bear with me dude...

Does this look right to you??? I'm assuming I'd twist the white/green wires together, & the black/bare together, right???
Then the ground wires from the back of the pots & p'up selector would all connect together going to the ground that attaches to the body with a screw, correct???

Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
Those push/pull switches are overkill for what you're doing. You only need a SPST switch to split a humbucker because you only need to ground one coil to split it. You basically "kill" one half of the humbucker to ground. So I'm not quite seeing why you'd need to wire it in the way you've laid out. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around using those types of switches right now.
I think you have the bridge diagram correct. The neck pot looks awkward. It doesn't need to be different from the bridge setup. It depends on how those switches work. Do they work left side/right side, or top side/bottom side?

I have no clue Greg, I looked the pot up via search, but can't make heads or tails of anything...
Muttley will be along shortly to get me sorted out...lol...

Centre is common, top and bottom are switched path...
All they are is a dpdt switch mounted on a pot..
Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
It's late man, I've been out all evening at the footie with my eldest... In the morning..
Get on the you tubes there is a bunch of good videos on there for coil splitting. Duncan also have a part of their site where you can tell it what pups and switches you have and they put you up a diagram...
In the morning guys..zzzzzzz

Thanks man, I finally found the answer a few minutes ago...No worries & no hurry Mutt, thanks again...

I've never used DPDT for coil splitting. I use SPST.

These are a no-brainer.

Hey miner, not sure from your last PM if you got this sorted.? If not then maybe you want to start with something like this...
2 Humbuckers/3-Way Toggle Switch/1 Volume/1 Tone/Individual Coil Taps
Let me know if that isnt how you intend to configure it.

That's sorta it Mutt, I wanted 2 vol & 1 tone pot though...muttley wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:52 am Hey miner, not sure from your last PM if you got this sorted.? If not then maybe you want to start with something like this...

Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
Let me know. Its pretty straight forward really...
Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
After looking at these, looks like I posted the same diagram yesterday, using your wiring color code:
One question I still have is about the ground wires...I know I solder each p'up's black & bare wire to the back of it's vol pot, but do I solder the ground from the tone pot, selector switch, & output jack to one of the vol pots, or do I solder all of those to the "body ground" (there's a ground wire that attaches to the body with a screw), to the trem ground (another ground soldered to the trem claw), both, or what???

Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
Some people just bend the lug on the pot to touch the case of the pot and solder that. I prefer to use a tinned piece of solid copper wire (from old household mains cable is fine) that threads through the lugs and solder that to the back of the pot case. I then solder the black or start lead wire from the pup to the lug and the bare shield goes to the pot case via the solid copper wire last and not too much solder... That makes it easier to take the pups out if you need to without hacking around too much and cutting the cables.
I do it similar but not quite the same as this guy...

Re: Miners "Ripper" Twin-Blade pup...
That ground wire comes from the trem and grounds the bridge and strings. You need to hook that up as well but do all your grounding for pups and pots first. Ground the trm last to the easiest part. As gerg says try and keep continuity with the ground route... I try and work the same route as the signal then if I have an issue its easier to trace it.. YMMV.

Ok dude, thanks, & sorry to be such a pest here, just trying not to make any problems for myself as this is un-charted water for me...muttley wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 2:05 pm Some people just bend the lug on the pot to touch the case of the pot and solder that.
