Eh, why not here's the last one in the series: Too Drunk to Fork

Post by vomitHatSteve »

That's right, this entire series of songs has been a build-up to a NoFX joke that is funny to approximately 3 people in the whole world.
It's meant to come off as a heavy rock song, while still being patently Regdar and also making the different speakers in the song clearly distinct from each other.

Yes it is as described and works well.
My only real nit is that I REALLY like some clearly defined bass guitar & kick in the centre.
That Is All.
Services will resume, I presume.

Listening to the latest version, its got a similar thing where the abomination feels like its leaning the mix to the left.
Why not move that ring-mod thing further out right - you might be able to bring it up a bit then too without it being all over your vocal.
Oh, at the end anther ring mod sounding thing appears further right.

So the core bass is panned center, but I've got alternate channels of it further out. (e.g. the signal that went through the amp and speaker is center, and there are two slightly different DI chains panned hard left, right)
Do you think they should just all be down the middle?

Yeah, the later ring-mod guitar got hard panned because it had originally taken up the same space as the skank guitar on the alternating verse (see, the evil computer has the evil sound, and the good computer is ska). I'll try moving it further right from the get-go

This one has similar tweaks as what I did to Nurture.

Goosing the kick was definitely a good move across the board.

Coming in not so hot on the final rough master.

I'm down as frig with this track. It has a great vibe. I feel like this OG Regdar feeling stuff to my ears. Love it.

Mix wise i got nothing at all at this point.

Nope i lied. There is some backing vocals at the end that sort of leap out a little bit when you or whoever hit them higher notes and then when it goes lower they kinda get lost. It's the slower sung melodious parts. um. I'm sorry i can't make out the words other than "you" in the string of it. this is of no help i fear.

BTW Your nofx joke is not obvious.

yeah, yeah, the countermelody. That was somewhat of a last-minute addition just to give it some more oomph.

It's more or less repeating what the lead vox are saying. (I don't think it even says "you" at any point, but I can't make out the words either!). I may boost it a little; I may not. I may be OK with it being illegibly buried.

Ok, all the songs have a new mix. I increased the kick/snare grit channel by about 4dB, increased the bass by about 6 and decreased almost everything else in all 4 songs to hopefully get more low-end and punchier, louder kick and snare

I don't know if you went overboard on the bass ..... I still can't hear it with any definition ..... it's more like somehow there's a build up of congestion from the lows up to around 400hz .... not actually notes or musical content .... hard to define .... I really need to do what i said and give these a hard listen on my reference ..... I promise I'll try to do that tonight
