Nurture - a distinct song from the last one

Post by vomitHatSteve »

Ok, the story continues

This one is probably meant to feel a little more "pop" than the previous two.

Latest rough mix.

This sounds like 16Bit era video game music. A bit like The Chaos Engine.
Given this is a more conventional song, I reckon it could do with a more conventional kick sound throughout - it comes in quite late in the song. Then drops out again on "Pandora's Box". Note, I don't think hope emerged, it was just the last thing left once everything else had emerged.

Hmm... I'll have to tweak the kick. The bridge is supposed to be the alternate, unconventional drums

You may be right about the mythology. That's ok tho, these characters are computer scientists, not historians; they're allowed to get it wrong. :D

Ok, OP has the new mix. Some instruments are scootched right, but mostly the kick is bumped up about 4dB and has some high end rolled off. (Plus a few more dB on the kick+snare dirt channel)

I'm not hearing this really. I can kinda make out the kick if i actively listen for it but it's not obvious. Rolling some of the high end back into it might help.

Alright. I may take a stab at that. It's already borderline clipping the mix, so it may or may not work.
