long time mix, short recording

Post by liv_rong »

I spent about 20 minutes recording this and then about 1.5-2 hours mixing this. Really more an excuse and inspiration to mess around with new plugins. I looped the whole thing with the rc1 in one pass on guitar then recorded the loop with an sm57 and sm7b to my pc. I then tracked drums to that recording and proceeded to spend wayyyyy too long to mix it, but am reasonably happy with the result. Though you will hear a few weird clicks or distortions; I believe this has something to do with my OctoPre and only happens if I am tracking with it - a problem to resolve for a later time.

This is a recording of the loop playing back as I recorded it with the mics:

I did definitely catch a few of the clicks.

I think with a few more passes to file those kind of burrs and get a more-thought-out arrangement, you'd have a pretty nice Russian Circles or Envy esque composition here.

Explosions in the Sky.

Nothing to be too bummed out on here mix wise Liv. The pops / clicks and stuff are definitely not fun gremlins to work with but can be sorted. Cool Demo sir.
