Dear Juliet

Post by CrowsofFritz »

Came up with this in about 10 minutes. It's about my favorite play by my favorite playwright. :) I definitely need to practice the picking for it, but not too shabby for 10 minutes of runthrough.

I actually REALLY like this one. What do you all think?

I think one is good, Crows.
You've got a decent sound on the guitar and you've made a good job of processing the vocals. It all fits together nicely.

Timing on the guitar playing is bit wayward in places, but I don't think it matters in this context at all, although it may be problematic if you decide to flesh this out further.

The melody/vocal and chord change at the end of the 1st line clunk together.
Part Jonathon Richman & part Dylan playing Leadbelly.
Bluebirds n larks?
Sounds interesting.
Would you mind posting the lyrics as I'm struggling to find the writer in the narrative?
Cheers

Very cool! Great sound on your guitar and vocals. I agree with some timing issues (we ALL have those!) but, I think overall this is a really good start. Are you expanding it? Not bad for a 10-minute effort! Cool idea!
If I knew what I was doing, I'd be dangerous!

I think it's a really nice song too. Beautiful.

Guitar had some rhythm/timing issues in a few spots. A little boomy on the low end - the low E string really booms in spots.

Vocal was nice and clear. I normally don't like a lot of reverb, but I really liked what you did with the vocal verb here.

@JD01 @vomitHatSteve

Thanks y’all. I’ll get better as I practice this more.

@rayc

Thanks! Here are the lyrics thus far:

With a glove on your hand I’ll make a cheek’s kiss
An evening’s love is something I won’t miss
Under the stars your eyes twinkle so
We’ll hide our love so that they won’t know

Bluebirds singing through the night
The morning lark will bury our parents’ strife
We must cool our heads or we’ll sooner be dead
We’ll be gone gone gone

@Alison thanks! Definitely expanding it.

Thanks @TripleM No EQ on either one so that’ll be something to keep in mind when doing the full song.
