Armistice Rarities and B-sides #2

Post by Armistice »

Don't worry, there aren't many of these... :lollers:

Not that you write instrumentals for anything, generally - I usually just have to find things to call them after they're finished.

Cloudland Ballroom was a big ballroom on top of a hill close to the city in Brisbane where I grew up. It was there for generations and everyone in Brisbane had started a romance there at sometime or other. It was iconic. It was heritage. It was part of our history.

Then, one night in the middle of the week back in, I guess, the 80s, demolition crews moved in and completely destroyed it - in the middle of the night so no-one could stop them. No-one even knew it was happening. The government at the time, run by a particularly corrupt conservative politician, wanted it gone so they could see the hill to developers.

Absolute outrage.

Yeah - probably - there's a YouTube video for it so clearly I spent some time on it a few years back. I'd just forgotten all about it and I'm mainly posting for Ausrock who has most of my instrumental stuff but won't have heard these two... Started playing accidentally and my car the other day and I thought "Oh yeah... those tunes..."

I don't know why they felt the need to stop at 10 minutes...

It was odd - clearly the joke is very funny to the maker.
I winced each of the four times I watched the guitar hit the ground. I don't like breaking things.

There used to be a 10-minute cap on YT. Maybe that?
