Young Tories - New Mix

Post by JD01 »

Alright, this is my latest complete re-recording of an older tune since I got the H&K amp.
Re-tracked everything, what do you think?

If there was any song to sneak your old, rattly bass tone into, it'd be this one!

Sounding good.

The biggest nits that stick out to me is that the callback vox ("we're c***s... we're c***s" - excellent lyrical choice there, btw) are as close as the lead vox. I'd put some more 'verb on them and turn them down a touch to move them back.
And the verse vocals are a little low energy. Maybe put in a little bit of an octave or 5th vocal starting halfway through? That might reduce the contrast with the chorus, so YMMV.

Cheers Steve, I have some funny video ideas for this one so I'll look into those bits.

Good idea regarding the verse harmonies - I'll see what I can do.

The bassline to this one is really fun to play.

Hey JD - haven't heard this before, it's really good!

I don't have much help to offer - it's a great mix to my ears. Nice job.

Your own version of Pretty Vacant I suppose.
The verse vocal's relaxed attitude against the UP chorus works for me - it's almost a "patter song" very G&S.
Musically - cool.

The classic (though not a classic rendition) - words with metre and rhythm but not sung...

What I meant by it is that the verses as almost a spoken/conversational thing.
I like the contrast.

Yeah... which was handy 'cos I only really had to worry about pitch at the end of the lines!
