Ikeeeyaaa(The Nightmare Begins...)

Post by stratmonkee »

Would like to get a few more songs tracked before I begin the process of lyrics vocals... This one was a quickie ...throwing it out for critiques...it has a bit of a wall of sound type vibe at times... I really wanted crunchy fuzz guitars that are well defined if that makes sense...

Nothing's leaping out on a first listen.

Edit: On second thought, maybe see if you can extend the tail after the solo some more?

That was fun! The very beginning made me laugh. Thought the guitars sounded very well defined.
If I knew what I was doing, I'd be dangerous!

Two Cow bells? that's all we get?

I honestly don't have anything for this is. It does sound a bit squashed compression wise like it could be breathing a little bit more? But that is a personal preference thing. Big picture though this can stand on it's own on a streaming service or radio play. good mix dude.

Also, If I didn't know any better I'd swear this was a collab with @rayc Some of the guitar and bass chord progressions have that distinct Ray vibe. Hopefully that doesn't come off as offensive to either of you but a compliment to both for having such a distinct sound when composing. Good stuff @stratmonkee

The cowbell hit for the return was fun...that could use some reverb and emphasis to increase the amusing aspect.
Wow, thanks @WhiskeyJack , making a comparison like that is a distinct back pat as I always enjoy Gene's progressions etc. Perhaps it's Gene's influence on me - we wrote a song together, but apart, yonks ago, (the ever graceful Kommodore Cabbage era), which we both revisited by recycling our separate parts recently.

I thought it sounded really good. Not much I'd change. I'd maybe turn the bass down a couple of dbs. But that's just me. Nothing more I can say. It's sounding nice.

Cool idea...possibly add a little delay at the end ?

:smiles: Thanks Alison, I am going for a more dry defined guitar sound on this one, so nice to hear I'm on the right track, thanks for listening!

Hey, I'm all about the Ray vibe!! have enjoyed his music for a long time on this and the other place . Agree on the squashed vibe , addressing as I come back to work further on this . Thanks for commenting!

I really struggle with bass in my mix ...from getting a full tone I envision in my head, to mixing , it's always a struggle for me. Partly my monitor situation is less then idea , causing me to over compensate on the low end while mixing. Need to up that part of my setup bigtime. Thanks for the listen and feedback, appreciate it!
