Thanks for the encouragement @Lt. Bob

@stratmonkee Thanks for listening. My guitar amp on this was a Mesa Boogie Mark V. I think it was mostly the Tweed channel. The guitar on the left was a Les Paul. The guitar on the right was a Strat. The bass amp was a Fender Bassman. The bass was my Rick 4002.

New mix at the top. Here are the changes:
  • There is a double kick on the first beat in the verses.
  • There is a swing to some of the snare hits in the A part of the verses - coming right before and after the actual back beat, instead of on it. Not sure that makes sense
  • No drum changes in the chorus or bridge.
  • I turned up the reverb sends on everything by a couple of dbs
  • I nudged up the BGV's on the falsettos at the very end. Thanks to VHS for that tip.

I think I hear the changes to the drums but, sorry, nah. It seems a little late and the fills seem a little hesitant.
Like Lt. Bob said...fab song but the drums aren't helping.
I enjoyed listening anyway.
V2 ends suddenly.
Cheers

Mix 3 at the top. I modified the drums to try to match the rhythm of the guitar and bass. No other changes from mix 2.

Let me know what you think.

I missed mix 2, but comparing 1 and 3...

The kick and bass are playing better on the verse.
The falsetto on "There she goes" still drops the energy a bit, but bolstering it with BGVs makes it a lot less noticable.
Drum timing feels tighter most of the time. Some of the fills are still losing the groove tho.

Thank you VHS.

Mix 4 at the top. Tweaked several drum fills. Boosted the vocals at the very end another 3 dbs.

Hope this does it.

Every time I listen, the lyrics seem a little dirtier...

The fills still aren't great, but they're getting better. I might focus more on toms for them. Snare really draws attention to what the fills are doing.
Oof! Around 2:30, the fill really loses the plot.

Are the drums live or sequenced?

Thanks for staying with me VHS. I appreciate it.

The lyrics seem dirtier... Are you talking tonally? Or the meaning of them? I haven't changed anything.

The drums are sequenced.

I should have some time to listen to the toms and try to address anything. I'll pay particular attention to 2:30. Hopefully one more attempt.

OK mix #5 at the top.

Played with several fills. Kind of rewrote the one at 2:30. I also boosted the toms quite a bit in this mix.

"Dirtier" as in I'm catching more of the double entendres.

2:30 stays in the groove.
Ok, since they're sequenced, maybe you need to do a lot more with velocities? Making a lot of the fill snare hits quieter might do a lot for making them flow with the song.

Thanks again VHS. You deserve combat pay or something for this.

I think I know what you're saying about velocites. I can play with that a bit. I don't think I need to post the result tho. I think this is pretty much it.

Appreciate.

Listened to mix 5 , I think the drums are much better, no fills stand out as klunky or distracting! Wish I could do vocals like you on my music :>).Great song!

mix #5 is MUCH better ...... there's still some places where drums are slightly awkward feeling but not bad and not too many.

It's so much better man!

Really is ...... great song and now with decent drums it starts to shine like un-unopened Barbie box!

I slept on this one. Coming in only on Mix 5 and i don't have anything at all to offer up to you. It sounds really good to me. Possibly a little hot on the mastering as my cans are crackling. It may be my audio output on my computer if no one else has mentioned it yet but there is a some clipping and crackling on the solos leads and stuff.
