Let the Purple In: procedurally-written song
Re: Let the Purple In: procedurally-written song
I still think the low end is a little too heavy. But again, to me that's the only quibble I'd have. It's a great sounding mix.

Word.
Mix 3 is up in the op (https://www.therecordingrebels.com/down ... hp?id=5796)
The only real change here is that I added some more weird glitch drums. I think I might have leveled out the bridge vox a little too.

Sorry for being so tardy to reply here, Steve. I started to listen a few weeks ago and I got immediately distracted, as is the custom in my world
Having seen the origin video for this song, I like where it's gone from the genesis. I love the slot that the bass fill in the spectrum, I actually missed it when it dropped out early in the song. I guess that tells me that it's filling in just the right frequencies. Everything sounds nice and full late in the song, but there's some odd hollowness happening earlier on...I think it's in the guitars and vocals. It sounds "phasey" early on. Maybe there's some automation or extra parts coming in later that fill it in, because I didn't notice it later in the song.
I can safely say that there's nothing else on Earth quite like this. Nice job

Thanks Tad.
Did you listen to the mp3 or go to the unmastered FLAC? I feel like I might hear what you're talking about on the unmastered, but I'm not hearing anything I'd call hollowness on the mastered version.

I clicked the embedded player for the latest mix in the OP. Looks like it was an MP3. I'll give another listen this evening and see if I still hear it, and see if I can pin down which elements sounded like that more specifically.

I like the latest mix. I watched your video of this jam with your sidekick and yourself birthing this one. It's pretty awesome. I got nothing at all to say about this as is. It has a pretty rad 3D feel to it as well. Impressive. Maybe all your tacks have that nice use of space and i am only now just tuning in but this feels cool to listen to.
Good jam.
Really like those backing vox rounf the 2:05 mark!

Love it, love the blips and lots of interesting parts. Like the bass tone too, just getting into bass myself just now....vocals are great too, the backing works really well.
Its a bit rough and ready, but polished out wouldnt sound so good. Bit Psyc, bit garage, bit Add N to (x)
Like the lyrics too

Thanks folks. I stuck a fork in it a bit ago, so it is live now:

Just to let you know, Steve... I HAVE listened to your song - twice.
Thing is, I don't have anything useful to add. It's well outside my weelhouse, so I can only assume you've got it exactly how you want it.

Does spotify care if you release one song every whenever? I thought therem ight be some weird guidelines that you have ot have like two or three songs for EP's and stuff?vomitHatSteve wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 12:01 pm Thanks folks. I stuck a fork in it a bit ago, so it is live now:

I posted it to Distrokid as a "single". They seem to be OK with it.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 3:28 pm

I don't know if the algorithm is kind to things like this, but if anyone is following me, it should show up in their "release radar" as of last Friday

Who knows? I didn't give it the lead time you're supposed to anyway, so I was pleasantly surprised that it was even on Spotify yet (when it popped up in my RR last week!)
