Long time since anything

Post by liv_rong »

Here is a little thing I just did. Not really a song, just something to knock out the cob webs.

Really need to figure out a better way to get some more definition out of my kick. When that last part with the delay kicks in you cant really hear the 16th notes on kick as well as I'd like. Its likely a combo of tuning, eq and compression that needs work.

Anyways, this was a fun way to kill about an hour and a half.

As always I like even your doodlings.
I hear the kick pretty well but it's not very deep sounding on my puter speakers

Yeah. There's a lot of kick definition. When it first comes in, it's even a little overwhelming. Maybe you just want more volume automation on it?

Love this! I definitely hear the kick. To my ear, the cymbals were a bit overwhelming but, that's me. . . I think you knocked the cobwebs out of the park!
If I knew what I was doing, I'd be dangerous!

Ooh, very Explosions in the Sky! I like it a lot. I think the overheads could come down just a bit, they're kind of taking over the spot mics. Maybe that'll help the kick stand on its own a little better?

Cool idea man, and it's good to see (hear) you back!

Great ideas, liv. I'm also finding the kick a bit overwhelming when I'm listening to it.

I'm listening to this on my cans and i almost want to say the attack on the kick sounds like it has some sort of distortion on it? Maybe it is just the delay you speak of playing trick to my ears.

It does seem to get sort of lost in there after about the 0:48 time stamp?

Very cool song nugget as usual dude!! Glad you are getting back in the saddle!!!

What kind of beater and batter heads are you using?

Not sure lol, been so long I don’t even remember. Actually shoild replace that!! The beater is nylon with a felt pad on it.

Try plastic or wood beaters.

probably better choices over wifebeaters.
