The Jongleurs Remix Project 10 - (I'm Not Afraid Of) The Dark

Post by Armistice »

4 to go - stay with me... it was a long album. :lollers: My turn.. :like:

I've done this live solo, with and without looper, and with The Jongleurs, with and without looper. The interesting thing from a playing it live with a looper perspective is that I just start with a kick drum beat and the first thing I have to play is the main chord sequence, but backwards - that patch is set to auto reverse when it finishes so then I then play it forwards but with picking and then put a bass to it and off we go into the actual beginning with the picked intro. So the reverse shub shub shub shub noise you hear gets done live too. Confused the odd audience member in its construction but worth the trouble.

Everything is me except for one track of Richard harmonies.

One of three songs that I wrote on this album that I have a great fondness for... the other two still to come. I didn't actually do much to this but replace the drums and do a bit of eq-ing and some generally tidying up. For some reason, almost ALL the random plays I get from various streaming services are for this song - so someone's taken a liking to it somewhere along the way. Not enough to make a difference to the bank account though... :mad2:

Some minor adjustments along the lines suggested by TripleM :

Original, as always

This is one of my favorites from the original.

Thus I'm a little surprised that I prefer the new mix to the old. Good new clarity without sacrificing the warmth.

I think the kick and bass are too heavy. Especially the kick. Kick has a lot of low-mid woof too.

Vocals sound terrific. The reverb you have on them is perfect for this mix.

You might want to experiment with notching out some high mid-range from the acoustic guitar. You might also want to experiment lowering the high end just a bit. See if they sit a little better.

Yes some pretty small adjustments, but the mix didn't need big change. I think it's sounding real good.
