MARCH APRIL OPTIONS

Post by rayc »

Hello Folk,
I'm between projects at present - well, I'm still inside three projects but it's a waiting game in some respects before they'll be finished.
I stitched a little progression or two together to demo the NEW sound of my amp.
I decided to develop that somewhat to see if it goes anywhere.
THEN I thought that others may want something to knock about whilst in isolation:
Here's an MP3 of the thing used in building the structure:
MARCHriffA.mp3
I worked on it a bit & can almost do the arpeg's. New guitar, new bass. Same thing.
MARCHriffB.mp3
I tidied the levels a bit - reduced the guitars & rhythm section a tad to keep space/scope for eventual vocals, solo & mastering. I also altered te drum track as it had a mis placed fill in the previous versions...
MARCHriffC.mp3
I replaced a guitar track using a different guitar (Guyatone) and different amp setting (MV set at 3) to introduce some difference.
MarchriffDgd_r8b.mp3
Here's a slight update with a timing issue fix and some DINGS to mark the in & out spots for possible leads.
MARCHriffE.mp3
It's, apparently, in G but is just simple power chords in the verse, (D C# G A E & B) and simple open chords in the chorus, (Em, C, Am, G, D & C) plus (D & E) an intro and (E F D E F D#) M8.
BIAB drums, Hofner knock off bass, Squire Mustang guitar - pretty badly played bass n guitar as I REALLY upped the tempo (140) and hadn't learnt to play it yet.
A B C B C D B C + truncatedBB ending on D or something like that.
If you'd like to add or replace something let me know & I'll send you the rhythm track and chords.

I've been digging around my scarps and files looking for a lyric or lyric idea to suit the song. I have lots of stuff but mostly WAY too pretentious for this track. Then i recalled I wrote a lyric for Variaxeman/Queepy that he use but later he reused the music so I figured I'd reuse the lyric.
Queepy's track sounded like a fast off cut from Kill City so the lyrics were/are the sort of knck off that Iggy might do back then.
I've added some more lies to fit the song structure and, of course, can't sig but you might get the idea...

Gotta Get Some.

Intro

I’ve got a car
I’ve got a gun
I’ve got a girl
Now I’m gonna get some fun
I don’t care about anyone

You couldn’t catch us if you tried
Can’t find our past because we lied
Can’t read our minds because they’re fried.
Hell, that won’t matter once we’ve died
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo
Not a bit

I’ll blow her mind
She’ll blow my mind
We’ll show the world
We’ll blow the world away
Don’t care what you say

You couldn’t catch us if you tried
Can’t find our past because we lied
Can’t read our minds because they’re fried.
Hell, that won’t matter once we’ve died
Nooooooooooooooooo
Not a bit

Solo

I’ve got a girl
I’ve got a gun
I’ve got a car
Enough fuel to stay on the run
Index finger to everyone

You couldn’t catch us if you tried
Can’t find our past because we lied
Can’t read our minds because they’re fried.
Hell, that won’t matter once we’ve died
Nooooooooooooooooo
Not a bit

I’ve got a car
I’ve got a gun
I’ve got a girl
I’ve got a car
I’ve got a gun
I’ve got a girl

What's causing that noise floor in the beginning?

vomitHatSteve ,
That'd be a suspicious power supply to my BDI21.l.
I have three simple transformers for pedals and all seem to inject noise into the circuit yesterday.
I may have to buy a cleaner supply if it persists.

@vomitHatSteve I spent a hour checking connections, power supplies, cables etc and discovered that the noise was the result of too much level on the BDI2. I seemed to have set it at max and left it there only bothering to adjust the preamp levels on my interface. With the BDI level set as low as practical and with preamps set modestly I get a clean, strong signal with no unwarranted noise.

Glad you found it!

Always annoying to have problems like that.

That kicks ass Ray. I'm loving the more garage-rockin direction your stuff has been going lately. Very cool.

I've been spending all of my time on a cover version and haven't even come up with a set of lyrics for this one...I'll have to refocus.
What does a 62 1/2 year old man do? Garage rock!

I just listened to the version at the bottom of the OP assuming that was the most recent.

Sounding good - the guitars have a really nice crunch to them. Interested to hear what this might morph into.
