Loving Cup (Rolling Stones)

Post by paulman »

Although this will be retracked tomorrow for a better performance, I wanted to run this by you guys. There's video, so any thoughts on tracking/miking are as welcome as mixing comments. This is a two mic recording, and unfortunately two inputs is my tracking limit. I'm getting a hiss on the 57 that's on my acoustic. I'm hoping it's just the cable, so that that issue will go away with a retrack.

Pretty good. She's a little flat in spots but yall are gonna retrack it anyway so who cares? Good one shot performance.

That was weird. I tried to reply a bunch of times and it said "topic does not exist".

Thanks Greg. Well, I just got a message from her that she's got to go back home today (she lives a couple hours away) for work. So no retracking, and we don't get the other songs done at all. Argh. While there are things I'd like to improve on my vocal, the main reason I wanted to do this again was those flat harmonies on the second part of the "beautiful buzz" section. Dammit.

Judging from the time stamps it looks like you were trying to comment as I was moving this post to the correct forum. Vodka made me post it in the wrong place last night.

Pretty good one take video paulman There is some pitch issues on her end and it seems like shes jumps in and out of her parts a little quick or too delayed in places too.

Despite that you two make some good jams from what i have heard. Hope to hear this one retracked if you guys ever take another go at it.

If you do get a chance to bring her in to retrack, she could stand to be closer to the mic.

Well, she says she can't make it back up until May. FFS. Maybe I can get my "Gimme Shelter" singer to do this one with me too.

Well, that's the difficulty of the beautiful simplicity of one take one mic recording I suppose. In the mid to late 80s flat was the new black.
Cheers
