Improvement though - I did realise, that aside from two Red3 (compressors) and a camel crusher on each vox track before I also had another Red3 on my vocal bus before. Don't have any of that now.

I like it much better. The vocal sits better and cuts through when needed better as well. Good for you sticking with it until you found a solution and being willing to re-track. Not everything can be fixed with EQ and effects.

Speaking of effects, it would be interesting to put some verb and or delay on those vox to give it some flavor. I know that's not really your sound, but it might be cool.

Either way I like this version much better.

Yeah, I’ve generally never had a problem with retracking stuff, I generally enjoy it and it’s also generally pretty easy cos I already know the song well.
Also, if you’re not happy with the sound of something I find that retracking is generally the best solution rather than endlessly tweaking EQ and effects and never quite getting there.

That being said, I don’t retrack vocals as often as I should coz I’m a crap singer and it’s takes me ages so I don’t find it so enjoyable... maybe if I retracked them more often I’d learn quicker, eh?

Maybe I will try some more effects on this, at the moment I’m just happy to have a decentish performance.

Way late to this party but the new mic is a pretty stellar upgrade man. It has clarity and dynamics and not that thick sound you had previously. I can't say that i ever really noticed that detail about your vocals before. Everything came through clearly so maybe i just didn't notice? the new mic is definitely a great upgrade for your sound Jdude. :like:

I thought the original sound pretty fuckin tits TBH, but I’m not on monitors. Love the energy and the structure. Verse vocals remind me of the moments I like from Mudhoney. I think my favorite thing about this song is the way the lead and rhythm guitars meld on the prechorus. Badass.

But yeah, I dig this song a lot. I listened to both the original and latest version. I actually preferred the distorted guitar sound on the OG, but that’s all personal preference. Vocal layers on the new version sound really great. Good job dude.
