Steve,

In the verse, particularly the first verse, the vocal is a bit loud/close and piercing.
Its still apparent in some chorus lines - like when you say "girl" its pretty pretty piercing.
"Bass Solo!" was a bit loud and I reckon you should add some stupid effects to it and then make the bass solo really shite!
The Uke and the girl sound great!

I didn't find the vocal spots piercing or loud.
I do keep wondering where the initial chorus melody is lifted from though.
The bass solo - exactly as a bass solo ought to be.
the fem vox section is nice as a change BUT it seems to go on a little long...the noises/instruments leading out from that into refrain seems a little loud in the mix though.
Cheers

JD, I'm hearing some sibilants on the vox now that you mention it. Thanks.

I like to think I already made the bass solo kind of shite. I hope you don't think I was playing to my top ability!

I don't think I borrowed the vocal melody from anywhere. It's mostly hitting one note over and over tho.

Bass solo is short as bass solos should be! :D

Ray, when you say the instruments coming in after the uke are a bit loud. Do you mean before or after the pick scrape?

I was hoping it was gonna be totally incongruous - out of tune, out of time, with both pathetic mistakes and amazing playing all together!

Oh, that's fair!

One of the other editions will have to do that. So far, I've just been going with distressingly basic.

HAHA! I love this song. BAss solo needs less bass solo really. I think that'll add to the awesome ness.

I'm not hearing any of the sibilants you two are hearing? And i have it cranked? If anything my ears can't really give this a good listen becasue of all the back ground noises sort of derail me from giving it a good listen. like that noise at 1:12 -1:13 derails my objective ears.

Is this an intentional cover up VHS? Are you putting that stuff in there on purpose so i can't hear the stuff JD is hearing. I'm an actual squirrel with stuff like that.

POP CLICK WHAT WAS THAT.

I look forward to every version of this.

Lol. So the way I sequence my drums is that I have a First Act toy drum pad running into my DAW. Then the different noises from the pad go through a complex series of FX to become a midi sequence.
Trick is that I only have 1 button for all the crashes. So I set that up to pick one of the cymbals from the drum VSTi at random. Then there's a 50% that it will also trigger midi note 0. Which in turn goes through another complex series of FX to play one random "crash" from my needlessly large collection at random. It doesn't get locked down until the mix phase, so I'm hearing all kinds of random crashes while tracking!

Mix 2 is in the OP.

Mostly, I just tried to de-ess the vox. But it's 300K larger, which means it's probably louder, right?

Always like your stuff VHS.

The UKE girl part is awesome as anyone who has played live for a time knows your mind wonders sometimes when performing.

I don't have any real mix nits, but I am only able to listen on ear buds at this time, and it sounds good on those. :like:
