I Don’t Care

Post by CrowsofFritz »

I finally got around to seriously recording this song after a year. It turned out pretty decent!

Edit: this is the redo

The 1st verse reminds me of some of Harry Nilsson's early sad songs - naked and pained.
COOL stuff.

Niceee. I didn’t know he was the creator of the coconut song, too.

Oh, he had a stellar three years or so of MASSIVE albums. Before that he was brilliant but not well known and after that he destroyed hsi voice recording an album that John Lennon produced. The albums that followed were well written, cynical and his voice was shot. Then he died.

I like this song. You are a good singer. Pretty simple here so not much to comment on mix wise. My only issue is the background vocals are a little loose and pitchy in places. If you are going to keep them as present as they are I would redo them. It is better in the second chorus, maybe you got better as you repeated it. This happens to me all the time and I have to go back and redo earlier harmonies. Good overall aound though for a song like this.

Thank you very much! I decided to redo the whole thing. I’m mostly trying to figure out why the guitar won’t play on my phone speakers but will play on headphones.

I redid the song, fixed the stereo / mono problem, and did the harmonies a tiny bit better.

There's also some Null Histprical Society in this - again cool.
The retrack/remix is TOPS.

I think the harmonies do sound better now. I would add some more reverb to them. Sounds really dry compared to the verses when they come in. Just my two cents.

Hey dude. Sorry i have just gotten to this this late in the party. I think the song came together great. Your vocal chops are fantastic. I quite like the second mix. The performance itself is much better than the first well worth the effort. I might consider adding a little of that verb to the harmonies and maybe try to mix your back ups to the back. They sound pretty even steven with the main vocal track and they pile up on each other and sort of fight the guitar.

I have a theory that back ups and harmonies are there to support the main vocalsist(s) and the trick is sit them just underneath them so they are auidable and leave the listener wanting a little more. if that makes sense? Again that is alos just a preference i have. It doesn't apply to all.

OK, this is pretty simple, but I think it sounds really good actually.
Your voice sounds good for this sort of thing. Interesting timing on some of the longer vocal lines with the number of syllables fall over the simple picked pattern.

Thank you! I’ll see how that sounds, but if people keep saying to add verb, I’m probably gonna add some verb haha.

Overall I thought this was nice. The harmonies were beautiful.

The lead vocal could maybe use a notch cut in the mid-2Ks. It might mellow it out.

Acoustic guitar sounds nice. It's a sparse mix, it could be recorded in stereo. If you have the setup that is.

A couple of mouth clicks e.g., :59. Little pops at 1:15 and 1:17.

Thank you! I suppose I was mixing with my eyes rather than my ears as my mic already cuts around those frequencies lol. I’ll go back to it.

Wow, that was really great. I think I'm listening to the updated version. I'm not even going to nitpick, that was just a pleasure to listen to.
