That's what I did with my build. I pretty much took two whole days on the soldering. All the test voltages were in range and it worked first time. I was pretty surprised, but being steady and careful paid off, I guess.
I had the advantage of instructions like this, of course:
Not sure I'd go about a build just from a schematic!
No one that I could find offers step by step instructions for Fender builds. It's weird. I wonder if Fender threatened some kind of litigation against kit builders.
Best of luck Greg! I'd be terrified to build anything complex without a paint by numbers instruction manual. But I've got all the confidence that you can do it!

Thanks. I know that eventually it will work. What it's gonna take to get there is anyone's guess. This is what I have to go by.

This might excite Minerman, but that's not what I got it for.
Dunno how I missed this, but yeah you know what I'd probably do with that...
You bought it to "break in" your amp build, but I'd use it to "brown" my tone up...
Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson
Ceriatone, Marshall, EVH
TC Electronic, MXR, Yamaha

Just saw this last night. Not your amp kit (I guess the closest would be the Deluxe), but Johan's breakdown of the various sections of the circuits in these amps was enlightening:
awesome youtube comment of the day
Bill and Ted time traveled and brought a bass player from 1973, a drummer from 1984 and a guitar player from 1995. Now they're spreading peace all over the world
So, a couple of weeks ago I picked up this Martin for pretty short money. It was dried out and hasn't been cared for all that well. So for the last few weeks I've been slowly re hydrating it. It goes into the shop in another week or so for a set up and I think I'm going to add a pickup as well. It's one of those custom for Guitar Center models but it does have solid rosewood back and sides with a single piece of rosewood fretboard (later models use a composite rosewood). It's basically a supped up D-28. I've been looking for a quality acoustic for some time now and I think I'll be really pleased. If not, I should be able to get my money back (and then some) if I decide to sell it. But the sound on it is incredible.

And I'm also looking at a Fender Deluxe my buddy is selling. It's the blackface reissue that's unmodded. Again, short money for what they go for around here. He's going to let me try it out for a while before I make my decision. It's going to be between the Deluxe or possibly a used Vox AC 30 that I can get at a pretty good price. Even better, if things work out right, I may be able to score both of them for less $1000 combined!
