Yeah, that looks good. Next time we go get a mattress I want to go to the bed shop and try a load out. Wife got this from online reviews and I've never liked it.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 1:37 pmDude we just switched to a "hotel" type mattress with the absolute most thinnest pillow topper on it and it has been a game changer for me. We had a king size ultra comfort mattress before and it felt like i was sleeping on a marshmallow and while it weas comfy it was doing a number on the skeleton who lives inside my meat suit. He was VERY unhappy. When we had to live out of the hotel last summer i got instantly better after a week of sleeping on their mattresses. Did some research and got a model like that with less of a pillow top and i haven't looked back. I also sleep with a nice firm memory foam pillow between my knees too now as the request of my physio therapist and thta has made some really positive chnages for how my lower back feels.JD01 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 1:26 pm
I've been looking them up 'cos I sleep terribly - years of boxing, plus general surfer's lower back pain and a couple of other injuries make it really hard for me to get comfortable. I'm fine during the day and it doesn't bother me, but when I'm trying to lay still at night I noticed that I'm uncomfortable - its not quite pain, just a bit of discomfort.
Anyway - they tend to be about 600W, say I have it switched on for 10hrs, and electricity is about 20pence/kWh - it would cost me 8 quid a week just to go to bed. Fuck that, I'd rather spend money on various fancy pillows.
This is the one we got.

Re: Weight concern
I can't do human weights in pounds. 250 pounds sounds like a lot of human to me, but I don't have a reference, because even when we did imperial measurements people's weights were expressed in stones and pounds. So I'm 79 kg and I have to convert that to 174 lbs but that doesn't mean much to me so it further gets converted to 12 stone 6 lbs, at which point I start thinking, shit, when did I get so fat? Except I'm not really, being 6'2"/186cm, but I could have sworn I was 10 stone-ish when I was an older teen. Possibly I'm remembering incorrectly.
I probably should be 75kg but settling for not going above 80 in recent times.
Unlikely to crash through the upper floor of the house but I have the positions of the bearers marked out just so I'm always treading on them.
No. I don't, really.
@JD01 - have you tried yoga for your back?
And while we're discussing beds we have a king size in the main room and GF wanted to get a big thick topper on it - to help her back - so we did, and I prefer it without it, honestly. We have queens in the other two bedrooms and about half the time I'm in one of them anyway due to the vagaries of two creaking older people sleeping in the same bed and getting a decent night's sleep. I prefer the beds in the other rooms. All the mattresses are the same brand and "medium", whatever that means...

250 lbs is big. Not quite sumo sized, but getting there. Before I was admitted to the hospital I was under 100 lbs, which is very unhealthy given my height. Now I weigh 160, and I have a small gut. I would lose it if I lost 15 lbs.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 6:17 pm I can't do human weights in pounds. 250 pounds sounds like a lot of human to me, but I don't have a reference, because even when we did imperial measurements people's weights were expressed in stones and pounds. “Naaaaaaaaaah man. I ain’t touching that mic. That thing’s expensive!”
Re: Weight concern
100lbs? That's less than Layne Stayley and he'd been dead and leaking for 3 weeks when they found him!
Re: Weight concern
@Armistice I should try more yoga and stretching... but time... when it's gets to 830 at night, I really just want to play my guitar for an hour and have a glass of wine.
Re: Weight concern
250 pounds is very heavy for an average man. Overweight. Obese even.
I'm 6'1...about 180. To be a good looking 250 one would need to be very tall and stacked with some actual lean muscle. 250 is not a normal healthy weight for an average man.
Think like The Rock or John Cena. Those are 250 pound dudes. That's what you need to look like to be a "good" 250 pounds.

My point was that a floor is certainly able to hold a 250lb person so 40lbs per sq ft loading on a floor is WAY lower than what they'll carryGreg_L wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:15 pm 250 pounds is very heavy for an average man. Overweight. Obese even.

I'm still 75kg. I'd like to still be 75kg when I turn 50.
Re: Weight concern

Oof. That does sound rough.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 3:40 pm
Schizoaffective if I’m being more accurate. With meds, delusions are downgraded to major anxiety and depression is lessened. Don’t really get mania much.
Overall a downright no good unfun very bad time.
