I think this is one of your best vocal performances, I really like it. And the song in general is fun and entertaining all the way through.

BG vocals sound great. Lead vocal sounds mid-scooped..what are you using for a vocal mic lately? It's a recurring theme where I feel like the vocal could be more forward (but not necessarily louder), and my guess is that it's the character of whichever mic you're using...it kind of sounds like a handheld dynamic (a 57 or 58 maybe?).

Anyways, this was a lot of fun. Mix overall sounds good on my system!

Thanks, Tad!

I'm using a Samson S-12, so 58 was a pretty close guess. I like using dynamics for vocals in general: 58s for most of my bandmates, but the S12 just sounds slightly better on my voice. Bringing it forward a touch could probably be done with dialing in the reverb and compression, yeah. I'll take a glance at that when I address the hats that JD mentioned

Mix 3 is in the original post

I bumped up the lead vocal a little, tweaked the hi-hat EQ and put a transient controller on them to make them less hissy.

Probably gonna call it there. Thanks all!

Mix 3 sounds great, Steve.
Going for a surf now and this is gonna be stuck in my head. Weird, I often have Wrath Of Peter and Entropic Sausage stuck in my head but then kind of blend together.

I did just have Entropic Sausage in my head on a loop when I was surfing just now! I only know a couple of lines too, it's a really earworm!

Sorry, I didn't notice the new mixes. I went to #3.

Still love the vocal.

I still think the low end is too rumbly - more so with the bass than with the kick. I'd like to hear this with a fairly light low end from the kick and bass. I think it would sound killer.

It just struck me that the pronunciation of human is the same as used by the gorilla in a diving helmet ROman in ROBOT MONSTER.
Mix three is cool....there is the bottom end rumble when things get fast & full but that is part of the signature sound.
Cheers

Yeah, I'm not sure where I first encountered that pronunciation, but I'm sure I've seen it in several sci fi sources.

Could be? I've always pictured it being said by robots tho.

Sorry, hadn't got to this one yet as I was up to my ears with various other things. 3rd mix sounds good to me. Now I want to write a song about robots, but perhaps I'd best leave that to you...

Because you're so out there on your own and been doing it a long time I very rarely have much to offer on mixes, and just go along for the ride, which was fun... :lollers:

I do particularly like the backing vocals on this one - wo-oh - however. :like:

Thank you!

There's always room for more folks writing about giant robots and stuff!

Its not exactly a jam packed writing space to be fair. Maybe if a few of the rappers who sang about drugs, guns and hoes sung about mutated space robots the world would be a better place... in fact, I'm sure it would be.

Ah, you mean nerdcore. Great genre, tho uncomfortably dominated by white dudes for a rap subgenre.

I listened to mix #3. I think the vocal bump was a good choice. A somewhat subtle difference, but I could notice an improvement.
