That's exciting! Here's hoping for a smooth and uneventful build process!

How's your bond villan lair going? When are they putting the volcano and rocket base on top?

They just finished the flooring today, and the walls were painted yesterday. So it's been good progress lately! The sharks with lasers on their foreheads will go in next week.

The Welsh don't agree to Hobbits - they're bred specially to fit in the mines with no bending. I suspect the shed is part live room and part small dark space orientation chamber.

All kidding aside JD that looks like a massive friggin job. What exactly are they doing here? Are thyegonnado that thing where they deatch the roof and rasie it up higher to add a story?

Also there aren't words for how uncomfortable i am and how my stomach flopped when i saw how close that car is parked to scaffolding. Maybe i've been on too many construction sites in my day and ive seen too much shit fall from those but, you ain't gonna catch me parking a car under that stuff.

Changing the roof to be a gable end, sticking a huge dormer on the back and putting new stairs in. This'll give us 3 new rooms upstairs.

Do you guys have alot of burecratic red tape to go thru to do that? Do you have ot have an architect and engineer sign off the plans and shit?

Yeah, we have to get an architect to do the plans. A structural engineer to do the beam calcs.
They're then submitted to local planning to make sure we're not doing anything mental that isn't in keeping with the area or is going to blot out the sun.

Then we can let the builders have at it! A building control officer then turns up periodically to make sure that they're conforming to the design and regs.

There's one down the street from me and I have no idea how they got it through planning - it just looks fucking ridiculous.

OK, so see the inverted Y shaped of the chimney on the far wall in the bottom pic. There's gonna be a stud wall down the centre point of that Y beneath the steel roof beam. My office is going to be to the left of it. The room will be wider than I have now and also much longer.. albeit with a sloping ceiling.

So was this previously a flat roof and you're adding the gabled roof above that? Or did they demolish a gabled roof to add this on top?

That's great to have a new office and studio space. Is the climate in Wales such that you need air conditioning up there? Here in the midwest US, even 2-story houses get boiling hot upstairs in the summertime. It'd be even worse with a 3rd story, when all of the heat rises and settles in that top story.

I think me and Shan checked this once... I'm actually slightly further north than him! It gets a bit warm in the summer, our winters get a bit cold... and very wet.
