New Indie- Originals

Post by Chuk »

Hey all,

My first post to this forum..

I am planning to record a new original but before that I've been experimenting with some new ideas. I have wrote this song a few months back and i was wondering if i could get some criticism/ feedbacks on it like for Guitarring or may be Vocals or melody in it Imageor any other thing that strikes on your mind after you listen to it..

So can you please please leave me some of your thoughts??

please note that it is just a partial song which is recorded on a cell phone (Planning to do a clean Studio Version now)

Thanks a lot

Hi mate,

Your playing is good, your singing is OK.

This section of the forum isn't the right place for partial ideas though - people tend to stick finished or near finished mixes in here for critique and advice on how to get them to completion.

Recording in a phone always sounds fairly shit, but with decent gear you could turn this into something that sounds quite a lot like Jose Gonzales.
You do have a decent DAW, audio interface and microphone, don't you?

Well it sounds like a decent enough idea - start working on the final version

So you're looking for songwriting/arrangement feedback?

I don't think there is a section for that on this forum.

It seems alright. It's surprisingly short. Will the final version be expanded with another verse or bridge or anything?

Dude, my normal advice is just write the song. Record it. Post it. If you're a songwriter, be a songwriter. Don't ask for opinions. What would we know?

However, as you did, I'd say lyrically it's all a little bit cliched - not that that ever stops anything succeeding. Guitar playing's nice and your voice is a little heard to hear and it's a demo, so not much to tell you there.

So get it recorded and post it up. Nice to hear some acoustic guitar around here. I'll look forward to hearing the final version. :coolstorybro:

Welcome to the forum. :)

This ^^^^^^

Just write your song however you want to write it. Some people might like it, some people won't. It doesn't matter.

Yeah...it's kinda interesting that A lot of the "Indie" stuff I'm hearing has this sort of vibe to it...musically and lyrically. Not saying it's good or bad, one way or the other...just that there's a lot of this out there today.
It reminds me in some ways that early '60s hippie/flower child period...when everyone was writing about love and peace. That "soft", folk period around '67 or so....and then it went into the harder psychedelic stuff toward the end of the '60s.
