Pedalboard Midi

Anyone out there know of a good midi engine for a pedal board? I'm currently running a 16 step sequencer by korg (SQ-1), but with everything I've seen while looking into circuit bending, modding, or linking a couple of them together, I'd rather just get something better. It's in use right now purely to trigger a vocoder pedal (EHX V256) that's vocoding some delay hits. It's a pretty out there effect, but it's been a great writing tool.
