I think there's different niches of it? The videos she keeps showing me are people at roller rinks. Half of them are on single wheel skates.
I haven't seen much outdoor skating around nashville, but I'm also rarely at the skate parks.

Most of the ladies I'm seeing are skating ramps and bowls but they do artistic dancy groovy roller shit too. And derby. Most of them are ex-derby girls.

When I was a kid skates had steel wheels. When I was a teen the skates at the rink were rubber wheels but few folk had them outside the rink. I hated the steel ones and by the time the rubber ones were available to the masses I was way too old.

Steel wheels on rollerskates? I can see why rinks would use rubber. Seems it'll be way cheaper to replace a few more wheels than the whole floor.

I remember seeing skates with steel wheels. They were usually cheapo department store outdoor skates. I might have even had a pair, I can't really remember. I was never much into roller skating anyway. I always had a skateboard. In my era skateboards had already gone to urethane wheels.
