I am now stuck around somewhere in the early 80s

This is about a girl I met at a holiday camp

I'm not listening on my usual headphones. But they are decent Audio Technica ones. First thing that springs to mind is that the whole thing is really, really bright. Like the whole mix has been hi-passed!

Was joking mate

All my mixes tend to fall on the bright side, its a mixture of cloth ears, old age, and wanting to sound like eighties synthpop not modern dance.

I'm not sure I find it to be that bright .... just all the stuff in the upper register is hearable ... since there's a lot pf content up there you my hear it as bright but I just hear a lot of stuff ..... the bass is nice and deep and big.

neat tunage too.

Am I hearing things, or am I hearing slight sounds of words in the second half of the song?

Lt Boobeth always had the greatest of taste

The bontempi sequence and lead do take up a lot...so much cheese. I did another tune that sounds like its from the “Love Boat”

I think Ill post a tune a day until you give in to my demands.

It's bright but clear and there's no ice pick.
The bass - nothing sub but a clear tight bottom end as would be needed for 80s dancing I suppose.
The gloss and gossamer are strong enough to hold an 80s hair style too.
The vocoder part is cool too.
Cheers

I did upgrade my monitoring for quite a bit of $$$ to improve mixing, but it doesnt upgrade my ears...kinda like all my TVs are 4k but my eyes are 720 ;)

I'm listening on my reference cans this morning. Its still bright as fuck... but way more bottom end in your bassline, still think you could give the kick a bit more though.

Cool piece anyway

The combo of the snare choice, bontempi sequence, and VC340 strings, all combine to give it that brightness I guess...its not really indicative of other mixes Ive done recently just that one I reckon. Even compared to my other tunes that one's "bright".

I'll try another tune later and see what you think...thx for the comments and listen though :illdrinktothat:

I don't think it's too bright. It is bright, but not in a bad way. I think Boob is right - the bright stuff that's supposed to be bright and clear is bright and clear, and the low end is doing it's own thing too.

I am "forced" to listen to a lot of pop nowadays...thanks to my kids being big fans. I swear other than stolen moments of mogwai or BoC in my studio late at night its a barrage of pop..I think I mix like the music Ive been listening to for over a year.

On the plus side I know my Ashe from Halsey

I agree that it is bright but balanced.

Per JD's comment, he may be right that the kick lacks oomph relative to the snare.

I truly have no idea what either of those names mean. I assume people and/or bands?
