This Bird Has Flown Off With My Shitty Sitar

Post by CrowsofFritz »

Damn, I didn’t realize how bad the thing sounds until it’s accompanied by other instruments. The intonation is off. I can’t get it to tune up with anything else. Sounds okay on its own, though.

Yup! Real! Just a worse than student model I got off eBay for about $350. Good for learning, though!

well, those frets are movable so you ought to be able to get the intonation straightened out.

I did listen ....... I've heard worse out of tuneness ...... wasn't as horrible as your post led me to believe

They are indeed removable but they’re limited due to the sympathetic string pegs. Glad to know it was too bad!

It's not too bad.

I suspect there might be a lot of "tone is in the hands" going on here. Once you get better at the instrument, it'll be a lot easier to mix.

Edit: This song ends with John Lennon burning her house down, right? "She showed me her room. Isn't it good? Norwegian wood...So I lit a fire. Isn't it good? Norwegian wood"

Thanks! I suspected that too. I’m certainly no Ravi Shankar.

It does. I just wanted to stop it early. This was mostly to test out my sitar as it’s the first time I’ve incorporated it with guitar. Thanks for listening!

Shittar LOL. Thanks! I’ll see if I can fix the tuning. I know if I can get the tuning on point it will sound good.

I tried again and made significant EQ cuts. I think it sounds better both sound wise and intonation wise, but now it sounds boxy. Arghhhh! This is frustrating lol.

Okay, last attempt for the day. I think this one sounds best. I don’t think it could sound better until A: I improve my playing and B: get a better sitar. And C: get more appropriate mics an appropriate room.
