Oh Please

Post by Ironbarkbob »

Hello all. This is my attempt at a Roy Orbison style song. I had more delay on the vocal but after mixing down it sounded to much.
This was written in Band in a Box and mixed with studio one. As I haven't been using Studio for long, Im still work on getting my master template up to scratch and I have plenty to learn. All comments and suggestions welcome. Rob

Rob,
the solo ends prematurely - either a few more notes or something else is needed to pick up to the next part.
Cool if it had a mass of strings like a Big O big ballad to augment or replace the pedal steel.
The bass is a little loud.
You seem to have tamed the essing quite a bit more this time.
The only lyrical issue I have is the line
"You have all my love please take it all" I know it's only rock n roll but that line doesn't really work. Something like "I'd give you my love - please take it all" would make more sense BUT it's only rnr so no biggie.
Time for you to add a comment, thought or suggestion to the work of others mate.
Cheers

Thanks Ray. Appreciate your feedback. Haven't commented on others as yet as I really need to know what I'm talking about. The expertise here is way above me. But will keep that in mind. Rob

Mate, that's kind of you to say but a simple "that's cool" or "How did you do?" that would go down a treat.
Cheers

"Oh Please" comment on my posts? :D

It's a pretty good mix. I can hear everything pretty clearly throughout.
My only real nits are that that hard-panned acoustic on the let sounds very close to my ear, and there seems to be a lot happening in the low mids. The mix is clear, but seems darker or busier than it should.

Iron, cool song, good vocal, just way too much bass on my end. Bass hit that first note and I had to grab the vol knob, then turning down the bass enough to hear the tune lost most of the guitars and other elements. I just think you have some levels to deal with and the bass, in a addition to being too loud is also not distinct. The lines are good, just needs some volume drop and eq? Like it though.
