I just got an email from my company, reminding me that next month I'll have been with them for 20 years AND CAN WE PLEASE GIVE YOU 5 GODAMN THOUSAND DOLLARS as gratitude for your length of service.
Yeehaa!
That's going to make a real big dent in a new Les Paul (alas it's probably only slightly more than $3k after tax).
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

I think I can pawn it for 5 bucks....the frame outta be worth that much, it's real wood.
LOL - I get one of those too...
The irony is that, in our new "agile" / "hot desk" office, there's nowhere to put it... all desks to be cleared at the end of the day and you usually sit somewhere else on the morrow.

With the price of Strymons and other "boutique" pedals, that's not all that hard to do... I wouldn't mind an EH Mel9 so I can turn my guitar into a mellotron, but I'm not sure after I'd done a song with it, I'd ever use it again...
I feel the same about the Mel9. I LOVE 'Tron tones, the pedal sounds great BUT I've used a keyboard once in a recording and 'Tron files a couple of times (cut n paste .wavs). It's an expensive pedal for a oncer & there aren't any cheapies on ebay.
Congrats on the 20 years and AUS$5k (US$3750). I'm up to 35 years this May & I get a medal when I leave (available to all after 15 years service).

Thanks Ray. Not there yet and I've already spent the money.
Yeah, with the Mel 9, if you knew 9 other guitarists in your local area and you all chipped in for a Mel 9 and shares it around, that would be a good idea. But $500, or whatever, just for one sound.... fark...
