NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Excellent MM. Don't set the bar of expectation too high in case it comes with a loose tube.

Ha yeah I just know the Origin is definitely not what you want. I'm sure some people will do great things with that amp. But for you? No way. I know me some minerman tones, and they don't live in the Origin. They don't even live in the same neighborhood.Minerman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 7:35 pm
Thanks Shan...
If you're wondering why I quoted you on the Origin, when those amps were first announced, I thought it might be a cheaper amp to replace the Chupa...I knew I'd have to get dirt from a pedal, which I"m fine with, & the price (about 1/2 of the Chupa's price) would allow me to do just that...
But after Greg went & tried one out (which shows what a good guy he is, he did that just so to let me know if he thought I'd like it or not), that plan fizzled pretty quickly...I know for a fact Greg would never steer me (or anyone) wrong on gear, especially the Marshall-y stuff, & if he said it was terrible, that's all I needed to hear...In defense of the Origin amps, I have heard some pretty good clips of it since then, but there's just no way that amp would be able to replace the Chupa...
This is a pretty big deal for me, it's the one thing I've had my heart set on for a long time now...Just the thought of it makes me smile, I'm having a tough time waiting already & I haven't even ordered it yet...I have to wait until I get paid again to have the whole amount, but it's gonna happen...I even e-mailed Nik to check on the cheapest route, & his Guitar Amps USA will be where I buy it from, because shipping will be free...

That was the first thing I thought the very first time I saw an Origin in person - "I gotta try this for the minerman!"

My pedal arrived today- only six days from the U.S. It's absolutely mint and sounds great. Nice one, Scrubs.

MXR Carbon Copy delay. It's quite literally pristine.

Yeah, I've been playing the two together. My Roland has had a slight crisis... most of the plastic jack input nuts have disintegrated. Just fell apart. It's a known issue with early noughties JC-120s So, no other nuts will fit except the bespoke Roland ones. I need ten, and one parts place wanted £4.50 PER NUT plus shipping. I found a company in Spain that would sell me ten for £7.50 but they stiffed me £18 on the shipping. The world is populated by thieving cunts , apart from Scrubs who is a good guy.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 5:59 pm Nice bubbs that's awesome. should pair nicely with your Roland.

So about 3 months ago, I picked up a Martin acoustic that my friend has been mistreating since 2010. It took over a month of re humidifing before they could fix the bridge issues, they did a wonderful setup (the strings were so far off the neck you wouldn't believe it) and I had them add a Fishman pick up system. Now this bad boy sounds and plays phenomenal! If I ever get some time I'll put up some samples. I still have some to do of my MuttPups Mutt90 as well.

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
I got this fella a couple of weeks ago off of Reverb. I overpaid a bit but I actually like this little thing. Its a 1990s dbx 286a channel strip. Made in USA, It's good but not great, and it's perfect for doing video voiceover in my noisy little room. The gate and expander are darn good, and the preamp and compressor are good enough for spoken word.

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
I've pretty much shot my wad on new gear for quite a while, but I'm sitting in with a band on the 4th this year, & I'd love to have a portable multi-track recorder to record the gig, like a Zoom R16 or something similar, but it would need the ability to record about 16 tracks at once (real drums!!!), so that would make the price go up considerably, especially adding all the mics I would need...It don't cost a thing to dream though...
Buying a recorder like that ain't gonna happen for a long time (if it even does), & that particular band probably won't last long either, but it would be cool to be able to do something like that...They're 3 young kids from about 16 to 20 years old & they actually impressed me, especially the drummer...
The first song they wanted to play was "War Pigs", & the kid on the drums pretty much nailed it, which really impressed me...Of course, we were all sloppy as fuck because it was the first time we'd even met,but there is potential...I just don't know if I'd wanna get back into gigging again, & I don't think they really do either, but it was fun jamming with them...Were gonna practice a couple more times before the gig (this coming Wednesday), so I'm hopeful we can iron some things out, but we'll see...
A little update on the Mini Jubilee: that little amp rocks guys...I took the Mini Jubilee, my EVH cab, the SG & I was really impressed how it sounded at live band levels...It's got a really thick, fat low end, but still has the Marshall upper mids/high end, that cut through really well...I started out on the 5w setting & it did fine, but when I switched to 20w, the amp really opened up...So for the guys wondering if the new 20w Marshall amps would be gig-able, I'd say yes, as long as it's not crazy loud, like Greg's band...

Good to hear that, Miner! Sounds like a fun, if temporary gig.
Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Yeah dude, the little thrill I used to get playing live is still there...It's gonna be a hot-ass gig though, it's an outdoor thing, the stage is covered though, so I won't be directly in the sun, but it's still gonna be hot...
