Piece of shit. You will hate it.
Hearing it in person and feeling the response is important - crucial even -but in the review/demo I heard it just sounded odd and needed too much of everything dialed UP to get in the same city as the sound it's supposed to offer.
Cheers

Ugh, it was really underwhelming.

I played a Les Paul Classic into the Origin 50 combo and head into a 2x12 Greenback cab.

First off, for someone like minerman, it has nowhere even close to enough gain for him to like it. I had every knob cranked and the boost engaged. It was about as "gainy" as a JTM45....maybe.

It's blues players amp for bloozy blues playing. It was a fat yucky dirty with a brittle top end and it just sounded like shit. So disappointing. I've played countless bad ass old school classic Marshalls, I even have a few myself, and the Origin doesn't even come close.

Thank you Greg, I was hoping you could do this sometime, but didn't expect it this soon...

Well dude, I suppose that confirms what I've been thinking for a while...The price is what attracted me the most, I had hope for the Origin because I can get one on installments, like about all my other shit, but it ain't gonna happen...That said, a $500 amp that needs $150-200 worth of pedals to get it in my "zone" is really a waste of $$$, I'd be much better off just waiting/saving for something better...

The EL34 power section is another thing that caught my attention, I thought it may be on par with my Mini Jubilee...From the clips I've heard, the Mini Jubilee can do anything the Origin can, probably more...

Thanks again Greg, I'm just gonna hold off on anything for a while man...It'll take a while, but that's my best option...I'm probably gonna put my EVH amp/cab back up for sale too...I love the cab, but I have more speakers, including a Greenback, so I really wouldn't miss anything...I like the EVH LBX, but I don't love it...Seems funny saying this (because the Origin is under-gained), but even with lower gain tubes, it's just too much, even for me...

I'm gonna start some self-therapy here starting with trying to type the name..."C"..."Chu"..."Chupa"... :lollers:

BTW, does anyone wanna buy an EVH rig at a good price??? :lollers2:

Lol. I'm sure someone somewhere will love the Origin and get good tones out of it. I played it with you in mind, looking for hairy rock tones, and I had my good buddy Chris the Shredmaster with me....and he didn't even wanna plug into it. It was that underwhelming. :frown: .

I knew you'd get out & do that for me Greg, so thanks dude, that means a hell of a lot to me man... :coolstorybro:

Everyone here knows the amp I need, so I just have to buckle down & save for it...In the meantime, I've got my cool little Jubilee, which is a great little amp IMO...

Thanks again Greg, it means a lot to me...You tried some specific gear because you know I'm not able to try it myself...
Way fuckin' cool of you man... :minernuggs:

I've told you this 1,000 times, but I'll tell you again, I know you won't steer me wrong on any of this shit...

You've been talking a lot about the Origin lately. I know it caught your interest but I always kind of thought it'd be a mistake for you to get one. I had to try it for myself. I really was thinking to myself, "what would good ol minerman want from this amp?" It took about 10 seconds to realize that amp is not for you. If you ever get to see one, by all means try it for yourself, but I think you'll agree with me.

I think a lot of people are going to buy those amps expecting cheap Plexi....and I think those people will be very disappointed.

Yeah dude, I'm a Marshall fanboy & you know it...So I think it's damn cool for you to try out something like that for me...I doubt I'll ever be around one, but I'll say it again: I trust your judgement dude, there's not a doubt in my mind you wouldn't steer me wrong...Thanks again man...

This is basically what had me sucked into it, a low-watt, low price Plexi, but it's not...I'm really glad you got the chance to try one out dude...Gonna scratch it off the list completely...

"Plexis", as we know them, were invented in the mid 60s....and here we are in 2018 and still no one has figured out a low cost low watt bedroom version of one. It. Just. Can't. Happen.

Suppose the only way of getting close is something like a well profiled Kemper. I wonder if Armistice could profile your tones and see how close he could get, not sure how they work.

Kempers could maybe steal the essence of a Plexi. They are not low priced though. For Armistice to profile my amps he'd have to hook up to them, and I'm not letting his little voodoo machine anywhere near my shit.

Haha. I suppose it won't feel like a real amp anyway.

And I'd bet there is no shortage of downloadable Plexi profiles for the Kemper.

It's OK, I'm not coming to America any time soon. But I don't have to - I'll have a look and see what Plexi profiles are already there for you. Bound to be some. Stay tuned.

I've never profiled anything - wouldn't know how - I just use what's there already that people who know way more about this than me have created.

Anyone know where I can get an XLR cable with a right angled connector, about 1.5 - 2.0m long. My new amp shelf for my H&K Head is going to be pretty narrow so I won't be able to have straight leads sticking out of my FX send/return or my emulated out which is XLR. I've got a right angled kettle lead.
