Thanks very much, Einstein.einstein magoo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2017 8:50 pm OK Bubba, forgive my impertinence, but I've some lyrics started.
Some of your lines are running over and I haven't spent a lot of effort to try to fill them out, but here is a start.
The phrasing is important but I'm not currently able to record my ideas so using time lines so you get the drift...
Intro up to :35, then,
vs-1
:35 -One more night, in the Kasbah
:41 -One more day, on the sea
:47 -One more time, to be lonely
:52 -One less time, to be free,
Ch
1:01 -Breaking out of chains from the 1:03-captors keeping time by clanging 1:06-bells,
clinging on to pleasure 1:09-once re-lized yet sinking into 1:12-hell,
stinging wounds left burning, 1:16-flaming from my eyes,
I sit and 1:19-ponder where the masses journeyed, 1:22-then I realize
vs-2
1:26 -No more time, to be flaccid
No more room, with a view
No more days, in the Kasbah
No more hurt, sinking through
No one left here but you
Seeking truth, or a clue
Ch
vs-3 - come up with something yourself lol!!
This is a very cool tune! Sounds good already. Wifey likes it...came out of the other room to say "what's that? I like it!"
Good work Bubba!
Thanks, WJ, I'll look into that band. The drums are free, but if you donate a few dollars you can get rid of the "nag" screen. They're fully programmable, three different velocities when programming but infinitely tweakable after the fact, 16 channel separate outs. They only have the set voices though, but those are pretty good, I think. They have a large library of grooves and fills, too, so it's easy to assemble a scratch track as I have done. When the Loin Fruit is home for the summer I have plans to get the drums done for this. I may have to downsize the kit a little, or commandeer the living room for a few hours.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2017 1:36 pm Heya Bubbs, I like this. I'm stoked to hear a finished piece. Hard to say much at this point as it is still gestating. And i still can't figure out this compression thing on my work computer.![]()
On it's own as it is now it kind of has a very subtle Treble Spankers feel to it. They are an Instro surf rock band with a middle eastern flavor to it. Check out their record "Hasheeda" Really good stuff. Might be worth a listen to some of it sometime and see if any of their sound could lend itself to your own birthing on this jam. Not to dismiss your own creativity, don't interpret it that way, but there is guitar work in their records that you could draw ideas from.
The drum thing you used? Is it a free thing? I have heard worse canned drums really. Really big real drums would suit it better i think for sure.
Yeah, a lot of his singing on The Wall actually I was thinking "Run to the bedroom, in the suitcase on the left!"Bubba wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:04 am Thanks, JD. It's possible that the doubled vocal needs thinning a little and a bit of the slap echo taking off it. I'll bear it in mind when listening again. I may have to retrack one of them to get better unison, too. I think I get what you mean re. the Roger Waters thing - like on Comfortably Numb?
I don't sound camp, do I?![]()
He's from Leeds, too.JD01 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:18 am
Haha, no, not camp. Just the way he phrases some words the echo/verb is probably something to do with it too. I don't know if you've heard any of the later Soft Cell albums like The Art of Falling Apart or This Last Night In Sodom, but if you listened to a bit of it you'll probably see what I mean.
Yeah, he is. I've always like Marc Almond. My sister is a lot older than me and moved to London in the early to mid 80s when she was 17 (I think she's about your age) so she was involved in the whole post-punk goth scene so I got into Marc Almond (and loads of other 80s stuff from her)Bubba wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:32 amHe's from Leeds, too.JD01 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:18 am

Sorry, I was just re-uploading it, there was a weird artefact - it should be fine, now.einstein magoo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 5:19 pm Bubba,
I have never had trouble playing these soundcloud links before. Just got home, fired up the pc, got on this thread, and below is what I got instead of a link to your song.
