Mate, this sounds ace. Great song too. Love the drums, guitars & bass. Are you programming those drums (and what are you using)?
Like everyone, I want the vocal up and/or clearer (eq it some space, maybe?). I wanted the guitar solo more forward as well, felt a little bit buried where the vocal is.

Yeah, they're programmed in Superior Drummer. I still haven't had chance to re-visit this for a remix.

Done a pretty major remixing of this now.

I like the mix overall better, but it is quite a bit quieter to my ear as a whole.
I would keep the overall mix at the same level.
I still really like the song and while it is a bit different from your other stuff, it still has that JD vibe.

Re: Patience Is A Vice
Quieter but better JD. Should master up nicely
No real nits from me buddy. I've been in major bass mode lately for a some help i am lending to some buds so i feel like this is lacking in the low end by my own standards but realistically it's probably just fine as is. It's guitar driven so let the guits rule the jam. The bass is there and audible.
lip smack @ 1:23.
consider letting the crash ring out on the final render. The song just slams shut at the end it feels weird. I guess on second thought it keeps in line with the angsty vibe of the song. It's cool as is.
This is an exemplary JD song man. good one.

I might choke the crash at the end instead - cheers, Shan.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:31 am Quieter but better JD. Should master up nicely

Lip smacks and stuff, never really bother me unless their really upfront. Loads of my favourite albums - In Utero is a good example - are full of lip smacks, breaths and hisses.
I'm not sure about rendering this louder - its only a couple of dB quieter than the previous one and I think it sounds good for it, I don't want to crush it.

It's so prominent!
yeah, new mix is better. It is quieter, but that's the mastering engineer's job.

It's ok though. The 90's said it was ok so i guess it is staying.

Re: Patience Is A Vice
Alright, I'll edit out the most egregious lip smacks and move it up by a couple of dB.
