I think your voice really works for this song, Ray. I wouldn’t get someone else to do it. The whole song has a sort of Pink Floyd vibe while still sounding totally different from PF.

I’m a little quiet. If you take the vox away you’d notice.vomitHatSteve wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:23 am The cello is a nice addition.

More Aaron in the new mix. I'd been waiting for the cello to be in place before tweaking the vox...more Crow in this mix, some simplification of the verse melody, a rudely wrong note from me corrected and I EQd some harshness away.vomitHatSteve wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:23 am The cello is a nice addition.

In the OP.

Re: ANYONE care to play along?
@vomitHatSteve Ive been listening to this a bit and it sorta sounds like my Vox are a synth in a way. You can definitely hear them in the latest mix. Just not in a way where you can say, “yeah, that’s Crows’ backing Vox.” If that makes sense.
@rayc It sounds like there is a woman’s vocal in there at times. Is that a synth, an actual woman, or your voice that’s been formant shifted?

been following this ..... really would have liked to join in but I'm snowed under with the need to sequence Christmas songs for my gigs so I'm jingle jingling along
But I like the tunage quite a bit and everyone's additions have been great

Re: ANYONE care to play along?
It's an oohs n Ahhs track from band in a box...a real woman's vocals recorded in phrases then computer stitched...it takes over where you left gaps.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 7:36 am @rayc It sounds like there is a woman’s vocal in there at times. Re: ANYONE care to play along?
Checked out "Mix with two pass vocal ad lib..." whos playing bass? Love the bass guitar tone and lines around 3:30 , really stand out in a good way! Organ part cool as well. Is there cello and backing vocals on this mix? Not sure Im listening to the version with the collaborators ?
addendum
Listened to "More Crowing...a general vocal tweak with a slightly simpler verse melody & some harshness subtracted..."
I hear cello in beginning of song very nice. Leslie type guitar on left around 1:15 sounds great, maybe raise it up a bit? Very early Floyd/ Beatles sounding , to me anyways. Cello sounds great around 3:25 over that bass guitar section I mentioned for other mix. I like this mix , nice job to all involved!

You wouldn't believe how many times I have added cello lines to someone else's music and when I hear the final mix I have to strain to hear the line. It's like WAY in the background! I thank you, @rayc for letting it stand out a bit, that's so rewarding when you put in a bunch of time and effort!
It's a cool song and I'm thrilled to have had a small part in it!

If I knew what I was doing, I'd be dangerous!

I assume it's my poor cello playing past and writing songs around my former cello tutor's playing and singing that sees me put the cello when it sounds good - where it can be heard.
