Suck It In - 1st Mix
Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
I just took a look. If you use "REAVERB", you have "Pre-verb" at the bottom.

Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
I use Reaverb, but there's no pre-delay option, just a pre-reverb which added a slightly weird effect which you can hear on mix 2.
Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
pre-verb is not what he needs though. He needs pre-delay and reaverb doesn't do it. When using impulses in reaverb, the pre-delay is built in to the the impulse reverb. You have to choose the right impulse.

Ah sorry. I don't use "REAVERB", but I have it, so I thought Pre-verb was Pre-delay. My wrong.
In that case, I would suggest getting SIR. It's also an impulse response prcocessor, but it has pre-delay, an EQ section, and generally more parameters to play with.
And it's free:

Ah... before I go through every impulse in the Lexicon... is there an impulse with pre-delay on it in there?

Ah, Cheers Rami. I'll take a look in a bit.rammer24 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:57 amAh sorry. I don't use "REAVERB", but I have it, so I thought Pre-verb was Pre-delay. My wrong.

Yup, lots of them. Go through them and find them!

Check my link a few posts up. You don't necessarilly need an impulse that has it. You need a processor that has it. That way you can put pre-delay on any impulse you want to put it on.

They really need to update the looks of the SIR. It looks like something from a 1988 Nintendo game.

It's true. It's been like that since it came out. I think SIR II (2) looks exactly the same.

Sounds pretty good to me JDude - vocal's a little "overwrought" for mine, but that's not a mix thing - bit more anger, bit less angst?
I'd perhaps duck the rhythm guitars when the solo plays, just a touch. And like bubba said, fade the end a bit better.
Good stuff!

Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
Great rocker... Mix 4 is best so far, the collab parts worked out great imho. The vocals are still a bit low in the verses/chorus and need more pre-delay. That vocal focused part later on is a nice touch for the song. The changes to the drums made a good difference. Just a thought - not sure what type of reverb on vocal but I found a plate reverb cleaner and clearer but still wet sounding. Mine has a predelay of 30 ms.
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.
Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
I just tried that SIR plugin. Version 1 won't work with 64 bit and version 2 is paid for. Bugger
Re: Suck It In - 1st Mix
Well that sucks. SIR is better than Reaverb in my opinion, mainly because you can change the envelope of the reverb, as well as the pre-delay. So, you're not limited to reverbs that already have pre-delay or have a certain decay length, etc....You can choose your reverbs based on the sound you're looking for.
Now that I think of it, this is the reason I stayed with 32 bit when I bought a new computer a couple of years ago. I installed REAPER 64 bit, but half my plugs didn't work with it. So, I just stayed with 32 bit. I challenge anyone to hear the difference.

I didn't have any preference so just downloaded that latest version of Reaper. I've only got a few plugins though aside from the ones that come with reaper.

32-bit plugins work fine with 64-bit Reaper. There's just the issue of the slightly annoying bridging windows that float about.
