Bob,
Fret not. Each suggestion gets a guernsey for the trial match if nothing more.
Greg's probably had enough of my tracks this fortnight.

Nice job on the vocal, both performance and capture.
Thanks.

Ray,

Nice job putting all this together, the latest mix(carne) does sound the best to me so far. I agree with Bubba that I would let it sit for a couple of days and come back to it with a fresh set of ears but I can't find much wrong with it myself.

I think the latest version hangs together really well, Ray.

Latest version seems pretty good. Vocals still don't seem to be quite sitting right tho. Maybe some more verb?

This one!

Not quite as much low end in the guitars as the meaty mix. I found the extra bottom end created a few problems with other bits masked or unmasked. I had to tidy up a small bass issue that became evident with the change.
I THINK the guitars have the best of both worlds but am a little unsure about the bass level.

Ok so are "more meat" and "carne" the ones I should listen to?

Lol. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess that's JD noodle wanking all over this thing. :D

I think I prefer "carne" better than "more meat". The layering and lead bits do help the bigness in the chorus of "carne", but it all kind of swamps together unfavorably in "more meat". I'd lose the licks during the verses. Unnecessary. The rhythm guitars are slightly brittle in both mixes and the lead is a little fizzy in both mixes. Bass and drums are good in both. Vocals are very good in both. I think if you low pass the rhythm guitars at the point where some brittleness is taken away and then boost their level a bit it'll thicken up without being too much.

Greg,
Sorry about the mix of mixes. I usually post them in sequence in the OP but decided to go alfresco. It's takes far too much time to upload twice to place a mix in the OP AND in the current spot of the discussion.
I find the brittle, low pass just under it and lift levels to compensate.
I'm not evolved my mind set from the "dark" results of my Kustom to the "normal" results of my Marshall so am probably still compensating for the former.
Hopefully the brittle freq. isn't in my tinnitus band and I'll be able to hear/detect it.
As I sit in the semi dark & quiet of a rainy Tuesday morning my left ear rings louder than my right, though the right is at a higher frequency. I need noise to mask them.
Thanks for the specifics. I'll get to them today.
Cheers

Don't get too carried away with it. It's not too bad. Just a little taming of the top end in the guitars will fix it. :coolstorybro:

Greg,
new mix based on just that - I also found I had 1 guitar going to 2 busses so had to accommodate/compensate for sorting it.
liv_rong,
Thanks mate.

let's see how this touch up sounds...
