Fröhliche Weihnachten von The Seditionaries!

Post by Bubba »

I made this thing - an Erzgebirgische Weihnachtspyramide.

Going around on the stage are these hand-carved figurines

Playing in the background is my version of Fairytale of New York.

Merry Christmas!

It's true what they say ...you have to lose a few pounds when modelling.
They look great.

So I can't call you a fat knacker any more? :frown:

One by one, life's joys are leaching away... :eep:

How did you make the figurines, BTW? What are they?

Bubbs this is awesome man. I can't pin down what impresses me more? the cover? the figures or the thermal contraption? Goes without saying you have outdone yourself.

Merry Christmas you ol boot!

I'm probably still a fat knacker compared to you- about 100 kg. I intend to keep going, though.

The figurines are 90% carved pear wood from a tree I felled a couple of years ago that was ailing. On a couple of them the arms had to be made from epoxy putty and carved, because the grain structure would have been too weak to allow them to be so thin and in that orientation. The guitars are made from 1.5mm plywood. The hair is tufts of faux fur rooted in araldite epoxy adhesive. They are painted with Humbrol enamels.

They shouldn't be, after all the Brits threw Terra Nullius on the "Counterwight Continent" of Oceania two hundred & fifty years ago.

Once we start getting into the relationships between Discworld and real-world Australia, I'm completely lost, I'm afraid.

The Great South land was theorised before being "found" as needed to balance the northern hemisphere...colonies were either defence outposts or export centres or both. Small Flower doesn't really meld with the other character/image projections from TCC in the series except in the one where they are in an alternate Australia of course.

See... I'm not even entirely sure which one you're talking about right now. Is it both? Was there some real British colonialist named "Small Flower"?
