Well, this one is a bit of a over indulgent everything but the kitchen sink project

Started out wanting to do something using my classical guitar, then morphed into a The Who Quadrophenia inspired thing, with a bit of strings /synth thrown in courtesy of the mel9 and boss sy1 pedals ...its bit cheesy but was really fun to work on...

That was fun...it petered out though.
Some very OOO guitar parts too. ENJOYED it.

Loved the intro guitar. Reminded me of Fleet Foxes. I’d love to make a song just revolving around that.

This was pretty good.
Bass maybe cut through the mix more than I would have gone for.

The intro sounded great. The kick-in was very Who-like. Guitars sound great all around.

The synth that comes in around 1:52 might sound better with a little notch EQ in the mid-2Ks maybe.

Thanks Ray! Yeah , without vocals, and this length of song....it does seem to wane energy wise at the end. I have a pretty good batch of songs tracked, going to force myself to try some vocals before I record anything new for awhile...thanks for checking it out!

That was a Takamine TC132sc classical/nylon string ....when I 1st started playing guitar many years ago, I took lessons from a classical guitar teacher so that was the 1st exposure/instruction I had to the guitar...really love the style although I never really pursued it and am not very good at it

, Nice contrast to add though and would like to use it more in my recordings. Thanks for listening!

Ahh yes, I play the bass like a guitar player so I think Im overly busy and a bit obnoxious at times on it...plus , its a Rik that I play using a pick , channeling my inner Chris Squire, John Entwistle

. I will tame it down in the mix for sure , and may even re do the whole track as there a couple of "clams" that are really bugging me .Thanks for commenting!

Hmm, yeah I will try that with the synths....new thing for me adding those type of parts , and I am struggling to get them to sit nice in the mix. Glad you got the Who vibe, that's what I had in mind !

This was a cool song to climb into it. great playing, great arrangement. Would very much like to hear this with some sort of vocal arrangement in it too.

A few mix notes.

I feel like there should be something tieing the first acousticy bit into the more rocky bit? It feels like two notably different efforts sort of. I don't know if some slow build feedback or some strings or a synth or something would do the trick but it might bury the fragmented feel of it.

Something odd @1:127-1:28. Maybe your kick is playing oddly with a compressor somewhere? Seems to happen a few more times through out.

That's all i got. Awesome stuff.

Funny, that acoustic thing was just a test of recording my classical guitar going direct thru pod go, had never really tried recording acoustic guitars before...was actually a much longer recording, but shortened it down and decided to try and stick it in front of this, I go back and forth still whether I like it or not....I like your idea of a slow build kind of transition between the 2, going to try a few things. WIll look at thayt pumpy kick as well...Thanks for listening and the feedback!

Cool - definitely has a Who vibe.
First thing that stuck out, when the acoustics finish and the electrics come in, it sounds like a pretty harsh cut - can you allow the acoustics to fade out more naturally.
Cymbals are pretty sizzly - that's probably a SoundCloud thing though.
Initially, I liked the bass, but there's just a little too much upper mid on it.
The keyboards are cool, just a touch harsh - see if you can find where they're grating a bit and then smooth that out a bit - think they're also just a touch loud.
The sound effects section in the middle is great - very dense but in a good way.
Should have crazier drum fills (Moon style) to get out of the sound effects section and back into the song.
Also, by this point the bass is starting to sound like its just sort of meandering around a bit and not driving the rhythm! I know John Entwhistle liked a bass fill but he was always driving the rhythm.

Go for a bigger ending!

All in all though, good mix and a fun song.
