Re: Dead Inside
The clean vocal definitely sounds better than the distorted one.
You could maybe put a touch more reverb on it in most of the verses, but not much.

lol @ the blatant and unabashed theft of one of punk rocks stairway to heaven riffs.

Ok i didn't bother with the second mix at all but jumping back and forth from the 1st to third mix is night and day. You really cleaned up your vocals ten fold. that is how you should always be mixing your vox man. That saturated camel crusher distorted sound you like doesn't do you any favors outside of a stylistic set apart for yourself. Latest mix is sitting in there really nicely. And it's clear and sitting a bit more forward then everything else.
Outstanding backing vox too @vomitHatSteve very Bad-Religion-ish. good work dudes.

Cheers, I really appreciate the backups, Steve. I think they sound fucking great. I'm gonna play with them a bit more and try a few more of the other options you gave me too. Hope you like the song and what I've done with them.vomitHatSteve wrote: βMon Apr 19, 2021 12:16 pm The clean vocal definitely sounds better than the distorted one.

There's still a bit of Camel Crusher on there but I've eased off it a lot.WhiskeyJack wrote: βMon Apr 19, 2021 1:15 pm lol @ the blatant and unabashed theft of one of punk rocks stairway to heaven riffs.

My brief to Steve was "BR Style" harmonies.

Re: Dead Inside
Yeah, you've got 'em mixed quite nicely. Much more "gang chorus" feeling than I can generally get my voice to sound.
Re: Dead Inside
Sounds pretty good JD - vocals are about bang on in terms of volume for me, listening to the last mix. Everything is where it should be.
As previously mentioned, all I have is a laptop now, so I won't get any more detailed for fear of embarrassing myself...

Re: Dead Inside
JD, this last mix is a million times better vocally than I've ever heard you do before. Those vocals stand up really well- don't ever think they need burying, or some sort of nasty effect adding to them, ever again.
That twin lead still needs to come up at 2:02.

Cheers, I've just eased the camel crusher back a bit. I'll bring those leads up a bit more.Bubba wrote: βMon Apr 19, 2021 7:15 pm JD, this last mix is a million times better vocally than I've ever heard you do before. Re: Dead Inside
This song really suits your vocals here.
βNaaaaaaaaaah man. I ainβt touching that mic. That thingβs expensive!β
Re: Dead Inside
Really don't know how I missed this, guess I've been buried in my own stuff lately.
I have to say that I REALLY like it! Love the song (and I can hear the lyrics
) and your vocals are super. I think there is a big improvement in your vocals from when I first joined this group IMHO. The guitars sound great as usual!

If I knew what I was doing, I'd be dangerous!
