In Living Color cover

Post by Teyshablue »

This is my band Citizen Groove covering Love Rears It's Ugly Head. Some of you may remember ZaphodB... That's him on guitar. We recorded this in his garage which has been covered to a giant gobo factory. :) Im curious how the mix hits you. I was shooting for a tight "instruments in your face" feel. I think I hit it but the light verb on the singer kinda works against that a bit. What says ye?

Oh, and hi. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13539437

wow ..... that's definitely front and center ..... I want that vocal sound.

haha ..... that's bad ass.

I think I'd like more kick .... and maybe a bit fatter kick, there's a rad too much 'clock' in it for my taste.
Guitar sounds nice .... bass too.

Man, I'm liking it!

Good band ....

This is really good - the singer is great and everything sounds good.

The guitar feels bit too in my face, but that's a taste thing I suppose.

I could FEEL the guitar smacking my ears.
Apart from that & the string synth being a tiny bit cheesy this isn't bad at all.
The guitar break up around 1min does sound a bit odd in head phones.
Cool.

The guitar is too prominent. I think the whole thing would fall together nicely if you dropped the guitar a hair because otherwise it's pretty good. I don't know if the synths are integral to the song, but they sound pretty cheesy.

Thx lads. I might revisit the guit levels. I was pretty aggressive with them. The synth intro is cheesy by design as they were on the original :D Might drop the synth horns altogether except a couple of pops....dunno yet.

Appreciate the input. :punk:

Wow, I'm impressed, definitely a funky tune here...

Only nits I have are:

Synth sounds are kinda bland/generic, but that's just my opinion...

Rhythm guitar is a tad loud, as mentioned that would probably help the mix...

And here's the good:

Vocals are great, pretty close to the original, great job!!!

Guitars are great too, on the original, the guitar has some kind of room reverb on it, panned to the opposite side, you're pretty close to Vernon's tone there dude, so my hat's off to ya...

Pretty damn good, I hadn't heard this song in years, so I went to YouTube to hear it...Brings back some good memories as I was about 19 or 20 when this came out & was a party animal...

Good job dude!!!
