Guitars sound excellent. I might turn the "regge" parts down a db or two. They're competing just a bit with the vocal.

Vocals sound pretty good. Maybe all a little more reverb or a bigger reverb to the backing vocal?

The bass has a little boominess in it. Like somewhere around 100-120 or so. Nothing horrible. But I think it might sit better if you notched out a bit there.

gud choon bruh

Cheers, I'll keep that point about the reggae guitars in mind when I remix this. Gonna see if Greg comes up with any real pearls of wisdom to resolve my drum issues before I get too stuck into this.

OK, Greg_L gave me a load of help with my drum mix on this. I think what's made the main difference is the way the kick and the bass guitar are working together now.

I've put the new mix in the OP.

Fuck a duck, I've just used the site player to listen to the two mixes back to back. Night and day.

Yeah it is better. The low end in the new mix is fuller but it's not excessive and it has smoother detail.

I'm hearing the the hats in the new mix a little too hard panned and isolated though. They're coming in strong from the far left. That's a little unnatural IMO. Find where they sit in the overheads and pan the hi-hat track in that same general vicinity.

Cheers, mate. I'll be doing a bit more work on this and it will form the basis of the template for my punk tracks going forward.
I'll give that hi-hat some thought. Really appreciate the help you gave me with this.

No problem!

I'm still gonna mess with it using that other overhead track. But not today. Today is skatepark day. :eep: :coolstorybro:

It's not entirely clear in the OP which mix is which. "New mix 1" is the latest?

The drums are cutting through better on that one. The clickiness on the hi-hat is much ameliorated. The toms seem a little close maybe. They keep popping out all of a sudden in a way that doesn't seem to sit with the rest of the kit.

Yeah, sorry new mix 1 is the latest.
I haven't dug back into this mix yet. Will do soon though.

Every thing is really clear that's for sure. Vocals cut through really nicely. That mic was a really great acquisition :like: :like: The drum sounds themselves are really quite good. Can definitely hear a difference in the quality of the canned beets from EZD to SD3.

The panning isn't doing anything for me.The toms don't feel natural. there are tom rolls that go right across the stereo spectrum and it irks me a little bit. A little bit of a "visual roll" across a bit of the stereo field is cool, enough that if you listening on ear buds ,cans you could pick it up, but to me this, the way they are panned here is a bit much. If you could automate the panning of that first all-tom-in-the-kit-roll @0:38 so that it does that full stereo field wave across that would be fine if that is what moistens your oyster. But as it is it leaves little tom hits like @2:04 for example, way out in left field and it doesn't at all feel like i'm listening to a real drummer / kit.

And i'll echo the aforementioned hi hat panning. it would be cool to slide it back in to the center.

The drums definitely sound better in the second version. It adds a lot of overall energy to the mix. Sounds excellent.

Sounding good JD. I guess I'd echo WJ's comments about seeing what happens if you bring the drum panning in towards center a bit. That'll give any wide guitars their own place to occupy.

I think that this is a solid song, I like the variety in the arrangement. You're always good about that, keeping it entertaining for the duration of the song.

It'll be good to hear where this one goes from here.

OK - I think this is just about finalised now, Mix 3 is here and it includes our fearless leader @WhiskeyJack on backing vocals!
