Challenge #7 - Bloodlines

Post by vomitHatSteve »

Results of the challenge
Round 1: VomitHatSteve

Round 2: @CrowsofFritz

Round 3: @WhiskeyJack - WJ Whispers
20201102 Stoner Moom WJ Whispers.mp3
Round 4: @CrowsofFritz - now with bass
Stoner Moom 4.mp3
Round 5: @vomitHatSteve - Brass (cow) Bells
Stoner Moom V5.mp3
Round 6: @JD01
pending

Round 7: @liv_rong
pending

Rules of the challenge
Below is a zip of the Reaper project for the latest version of the project

Stoner Moom - Reaper project (MIDI still editable)
Stoner Moom - exported wav/flac files (any DAW)

The project is to fix it. So one at a time, we'll
a) call dibs
b) download the folder
c) modify the project in whatever way your muse directs you
d) re-upload the modified project for the next player

Then the next player grabs that folder and repeats the process. Repeat until we all get tired of it. It's the Telephone game but metal! (Thus I'm naming after "Bloodlines" games of Dwarf Fortress)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Below is a zip of the Reaper project for that goofy stoner doom song I posted in the MTN DEW Lounge as well as the exported project.

Interesting LOL. I'm not calling dibs yet, i have a grueling next week and half but i will for sure keep an eye on this. gives me an opportunity to drop the tuning on one of my guits and indulge in a genre i love but never tinker with.

Good one VHS!

Do it! Sully it with rubbish!

As it currently exists, it's samples of voice actors saying "moo" for Diablo II's secret cow level run through reasamplomatic, a ton of distortion, and some of Greg_L's cab impulses

Edit: Oh, yes, it is the one that I posted in the misc. YT videos thread for the cows.

As in "how does this challenge work?" (see first post)
"what's going on in this initial track?" (shenanigans, mostly)
or "why are you dragging me into this, Steve? don't blame my impulses for your shenanigans" (maybe that will teach you to share)

We have to build on and add to whatever whoever before us did to the tracks?

Right, exactly.

You can also edit the existing tracks. (e.g. you could swap out my cow synth for something more tonal)

Is it not called Telephone in the commonwealth?

I just realized that Britbox has Red Dwarf, so I've been catching up on the last few seasons, and they had an episode about it using the name Chinese Whispers too.

If you have reaper, you should just be able to DL what Steve has done and open it as a project.

More to the point... why on earth don't you have reaper?

I use Cubase. I guess I could download Reaper and use it for this, there is a free trial period I think.

So, JD01, are you taking first crack then?

It's probably worth mentioning that I spent... maybe 45 minutes on the initial track, so that's probably a good bar for how seriously anyone should take this.
