Using a tremolo as a boost.
Using a tremolo as a boost.
Weird thing this evening, been doing a lot of practicing parts and recording lately so haven't been just playing my guitar normally much.
Anyway, was playing this evening with the level up quite high on my drive pedal and then clicked on my tremolo... was really surprised by the amount of boost I got.. a fair bit louder and a definite increase in gain... it I don't really like the tremeolo effect. So I just turned the rate and depth down to zero and I'm left with a straight boost pedal with an adjustable bias control. That's a minor win for a pedal that I only got to play one chorus of one song in a band I'm not even in anymore. It's like having a TS lead boost but without having to buy one.
So if anyone comes across a Mooer trelicopter on the cheap, keep this in mind.

Lol, what does that make Greg? Darth TubeScreamer?
Mooer trelicopter does have a weird Star Wars ring to it though.

I rarely use my Tube Screamer. It's nice to have, but I don't often want to sound like RATT or Motley Crue.

I would say Crankit Riff-Raff, but that sounds like Old Scrotum, the Wrinkled Retainer.

Anyway, I was wondering - does anyone elses Tremolo give a significant boost? Or is it unique to the Mooer?
I hadn't really noticed before but I don't normally play with the level up so high on my drive pedal, this seemed to exagerate the boosting effect from the tremolo. The tremolo is after the drive in the pedal chain. I don't have a mic with me this week so I can't show you what I mean but I'll bring a condenser with me next week as I can get a decent tone with that at reasonable volume in my week day apartment.

I want a trem. I like the sounds of the Flint plus not t has a nice verb side too. I'll probably not use it as a boost. I use the Soul Food as a clean boost on my clean channel for a little breakup but it doesn't seem to do too much on the gain channel actually, which seems weird to me.
