There's not a lot wrong with this Alison. The farting string gets on my nerves, if I'm honest, but you have a nice voice and the musical elements you've chosen to make up the song work really well. Great arrangement.

I agree with JD about the snare. It's a little loud and it's a little dry. But only a little.

Personally I like it as is ..... the string that everyone is complaining about doesn't even register with me ... it's an acoustic instrument doing it's acoustic thing ..... I'm really bored with the modern obsession for making recordings perfect ..... that's simply not how real music or real instruments are in the real world.
Personal opinions vary but that's mine.

For the same reason the snare doesn't strike me as too loud because if you were sitting on a porch listening to a few players play this and you were sitting on the part of the porch closest to the guy adding percussion on a snare, this is exactly what you would hear.

And to me it sounds very much like I'm sitting on a porch listening to guys making music ..... it does an excellent job of placing me there ..... I really like the 'live' feel and sound of it

Once again .... just my opinion, not criticizing anyone else's taste.

It does need something at the very end and someone mentioned adding a chimed or harmonic on the cello for a final note and I think that would work very well.

I was kind of under the gun on this. Wanted to get a YouTube video out asap. I did make a few changes that you all suggested but, left the end. To me, and the message of the song, the "gun shot" at the end made sense. Anyway, here's the video of the song. . . done with the help of a friend.
