Great song, love the guitar riff!
Thanks Tad. Organ and de-essing seems to be the main issues. Sooo...

New mix up top if anyone cares to check it.

I think the new mix will sit better on a GtT album. I don't know that the bassiness was bad per-se, but it was pretty boomy, and the song might end up sticking out a lot.

Thanks man. I think I'm gonna open the album with this one so it'll set the stage for the rest of the awful shit that follows.

It sounds really good.

Maybe the bass is a bit loud in the chorus? Kind of a nitpicky thing.

Overall really good.

Sounds great. I love that pre-echo thing before the vocal comes in.

Have a quick listen on the descending bit that starts at about 28s whether its pumping slightly.
I'm on my work laptop so listening through windows media player which isn't ideal but I've noticed this before some of my mixes sound fine through my focusrite but then they seem to pump a little when I'm just listening through win media player with headphones plugged into the headhphone jack

Thanks guys.

JD01 I haven't noticed any pumping. It's fairly loud, too loud maybe. I haven't listened on anything but monitors yet. Seems fine on my computer WMP. That specific section does have an change in drum energy though for sure. It goes from all those toms banging and booming to a more standard cymbal riding drum pattern. There's no kind of transition or fill to bridge the two drum patterns. To me it's a weird change. I used to be in this phase of no drum fills. There's another song in this batch that has not a single fill or drum roll to be found anywhere. :lollers2:

Oh, if you've checked for it and it's not there I'm sure you're right.
It is a very loud mix!

Yeah it's probably too loud. I'll refine that when I master all this crap. I might even make a CD-ready and a separate "streaming friendly" set of masters.

I ran this one through a loudness analyzer and according to that thing streaming sites would probably clamp down on it a little bit, but not enough to really degrade the sound.

I've been lucky that I don't usually have pumping problems. Not usually. I don't have too many songs with enough space for a compressor to react badly to transients and dynamics. Or I'm just too dumb to hear it.

Nah, you know what you're listening for.

I find that either if I have the volume up high on either the computer master volume or win media player I can get pumping. Even with some commercial mixes.

Solution is to put them both at about 50%

Do you have all your WMP settings turned off? There's all kinds of shit in WMP. Make sure it's all disabled.

Yeah, WMP is pretty bad about mangling the crap out of your audio. I usually prefer VLC or winamp.

Loaded question. When you say "volume up high" do you actually mean volume controlled from Windows volume control or are you adjusting the volume knob on your 18i20. I only ask because when i do High DB monitoring tests the 18i20 is doing something to the output when i start to push it past the 2oclock position on the knob. My 2i2 didn't seem to do that?

It may also be the windows thing too i don't know. I always just leave that set at 100%. Always.

That's what i mean. I wasn't using the Focusrite. I had a pair of headphones plugged into the headphone jack of my work laptop and was just using win media player with the internal sound card.
