First Snow

Post by liv_rong »

EDIT, NEW FILE ADDED.

Another REMAKE.

OG also attached was done in 2006 with an ovation plugged straight into a computer with an adapter with no click track. Drums recorded at my buddies place and he also did the bass after the guitars were done. Wow, what a crazy time to be alive haha.

For this remake, I actually tracked the guitars and drums before my interface died in early January. I did the bass this morning.

I always like your stuff man ..... always.

I really like the long fade-in opening and then it's classic liv-rong .... if I'm still unemployed after getting house/gear/MIDI converting done (prolly another 3 weeks ) I'm gonna get hard into recording and I've been saying for years I wanted to fool around with your stuff so it'll be high on the list ....... because I likes it.

And then, if you like what I do with it, you can make and ship me a sammich

I listed to both versions.

In the intro I liked the guitar sound better in the first mix. But the playing in the second mix was much tighter. The playing overall in the second mix was tighter.

I'd tame the low end of the bass in the second version. Again I liked the playing in the second version better, but the sound in the first version was a little more appropriate. At least to me.

Shit i missed this entirely liv_rong Great transformation dude. I love that intro too. you and all your effects voodoo.

What was it about the bass you didn't like? I didn't hear the first version so i have no point of reference?

Thanks, dawg!

The first version of bass was more suckier!

For the intro its just the fading guitars at the end but I cut it out and pasted it in reverse to the beginning. Otherwise its just various reverbs pedals and settings on the guitars.

One last version, I think. I put that izotope ozone on the master instead of the js master limiter I was using before. I believe it sounds slightly better.

liv_rong that sounds pretty god dam good dude. Whatever you did with the ozone shit really added a bit of life to your drums. It's like they are now breathing. Most notably your overheads and i am hearing some room on the snare as well when i A/B the latest mix with the previous. I can't really tell if your ozone experimenting has been any kind of destructive though. It sounds really good!!!

Sounds nice but the kick seems to becoming from half way up the image and a little to the right.
Cheers

Liv, only just got onto the latest version of this.
I think it sounds great - your drums sound much better on this. The cymbals especially sound good, although they sounded good before.
Good song too. I ended up just enjoying listening to that and probably wasn't listening that critically after a minute or so, I'll have another listen later.

Interesting, I have to listen better for this. I bet its because of that width slider in ozone.
