Dont hang it up man. Harmonies in general i find to be quite difficult. Speaking only formyself, my bird brain gets used to a cover song and singing only in the main key. So when i get the urge to cover something i always find myself stuck on any harmonies. My little trick to fill it those gaps is to just take a break from it and listen to the harmonyless version in the car in repeat and then sing along to it until i fill in the sonic gaps i know i left there.

I am natural talentless and this method works for me. Dont ask me why i can develop the layers in the car rather than in the comfort of my creative space because i couldnt answer that for the life of me but it works oddly well.

Moral of the story is dont hang it up. Just take a break and go back to it later.
